A Look at the Wide World of Strap-On Harnesses

A Look at the Wide World of Strap-On Harnesses

In recent years, strap-on harnesses have become more mainstream than ever. These days, finding a comfortable harness and a compatible dildo is a breeze. When we think of strap-on harnesses, we often picture something one would wear around their hips that allows them to have a phallus placed roughly where one would find a penis. The thing is, there is now much more variety available for strap-on play. Read on to check out the options and to learn how to help your shoppers get suited up for strapping on!

What is a strap-on harness?

There are harnesses that offer multiple options for how they can be worn.

Before we get too far along, we should be clear on what a strap-on harness is. Very simply put, it is something one can wear to enable them to wear a dildo hands-free. Many harnesses are designed to be worn around the hips, allowing the dildo to sit on the front of the pelvis, mimicking the placement of a naturally occurring penis. Some are even designed to look and feel like a pair of underwear. However, as you’ll see, there are lots of other ways strap-on harnesses can work.

Strap-on harnesses require dildos that are compatible with their design, which typically means that the dildo has a flared base that allows it to fit securely in the harness, whether through use of an O-ring, snaps or Velcro, or even a custom attachment system.

Strap-On Harness Options

There are many kinds of harnesses available and to make it a little less overwhelming, here’s a breakdown based on where they might be worn, who they might be used with, and what other stuff they might do.

  • Where you wear it: First things first: where do you want to wear your harness? There are harnesses that offer multiple options for how they can be worn, such as around the chest, hips or even around a chair seat! Some styles can be wrapped around a thigh, buckled to a boot, or strapped to the forehead or any body part that fits. There are also strap-ons that are made to be worn on the face and double as a gag during BDSM play, or that can be worn on the chin, leaving the wearer’s tongue free to pleasure the partner they are penetrating.
  • Who gets penetrated: We have mostly talked about harnesses that allow a user to penetrate their partner, but what if the wearer wants to be penetrated too? There are options for that! Wearable strap-ons allow both partners to experience penetration and vibration, including dual-ended dildos that feature shafts for both users. Some styles also have a vibrating bullet at each end.
  • What else can it do? Folks who are looking for a strap-on often appreciate additional features. For instance, strap-ons can also have attached dildos with a hollow interior that allows users who have a penis to insert it in the dildo during use.

These are just some of the strap-on options available today. Clearly, there are lots of features, styles and designs to choose from.

Finding the Perfect Strap-On Harness for Your Customer

Knowing how many strap-on harness options are out there, how do you help your customers find exactly what they are looking for? The answer is to ask a couple of key questions to help them zero in on what they want:

  1. Where do they want to wear it?
  2. Should it penetrate more than one partner?
  3. Do they want to go beyond penetration?

Knowing the answers to those questions should go a long way towards helping your customers create the exact strap-on experience they want.

Strap-on harnesses offer users so many ways to play and explore. By knowing the options and engaging with shoppers, you can help them find what they are looking for — and maybe even show them something totally new!
