Barely two years into the business, Venus Lux has already established herself in the forefront of transsexual porn stars. The 2014 XBIZ Transsexual Performer of the Year is not only beautiful and charming but smart and ambitious, a savvy businesswoman making money from something she loves to do—sex.
She is Asian-American, 23, tall (5’11”), slender, with C-cup breasts and a 7” cock. She keeps an apartment in a luxe high-rise near downtown Los Angeles and commutes to wherever there’s work. A non-driver, she gets around town with taxi services and Uber. “I’m so afraid of the traffic in L.A.,” she laughs. “It’s so crazy.”

Venus missed our first interview date because she had flown in from San Francisco late the night before after what must have been an exhausting shoot for Kink.com.
“I love Kink.com. I work for them once or twice a month. Have been for two years. I started out with them. They found me through social media. They were looking for performers, and I seized the opportunity.”
What made Venus stand out immediately was her willingness to work with women. “It is difficult to find transsexuals who will do women,” she says. “Most prefer men.” She found herself in a sub-niche: TS + women—amateur girls making it with familiar transgirls—that turned out to be a winner. The scenes are on the Kink.com site “TS Pussy Hunters.”
“It’s lesbian sex without the toy aspect,” Venus says. She also appears on Kink’s “TS Seduction” site, with mostly male partners.
Finding her way into porn, she says emphatically, was “a long road. There are no reps for TS models. Kink does scouting, it’s one of the few studios that does.”
She did her first Kink scenes in March 2012 and her first work in Los Angeles in May of that year. When those scenes started appearing she thought, “I’m in porn, I might as well make the best of it.” So she flew to Chicago for Pornstar Platinum, a dedicated TS network, worked for Jasmine Jewels and with Josh Stone in Miami. Her credits so far include scenes for Grooby, Devil’s Film, Evil Angel.
She was helped by actor Christian XXX who “showed me how the system works, its functionality, he explained how to coordinate emails with dates and times and rates.”
In 2012 she trademarked her name, created Venus Lux Entertainment, and got her website — venus-lux.com — up and running. Before porn she worked as a stripper and a bartender. “I was planning to open a nail salon and had money saved up. So why not use it to start a website?
“I did everything myself. I did it all—it was hell!” she laughs. “Now I have a good staff to help me manage my company.” In the future is “possibly a toy line.” On the membership site there will be a more streamlined tour plus a re-launch of the affiliate program.
“It’s going to expand more this year. A new look is overdue. I want it to be user-friendly on my end and for my audience. I’ve been working on deals with Hot Movies and AEBN. I shoot all the content for the site and either perform in it or direct. Right now I focus more on men and TS. I concentrate most of my energy on my company. I know I do good work.”
She was thrilled to dip into mainstream entertainment with a role in a TV pilot called “Enjoy It!” on Comedy Central, with Brody Stevens. “I play Brody’s date. There was no ‘revealing.’ I love the ‘normal person’ part. I commend him for his courage to kiss me on camera. People can be supportive of a trans person, but when the cameras are on it’s a different matter.”
Being named TS Performer of the Year by XBIZ was a career high for her, not least because she got to accept the award onstage before a houseful of industry peers. “I was honored at the XBIZ Awards to share my experience with everyone, not to do it behind closed doors.”
She was also happy to feature as the after-party interviewer at the 2014 Tranny Awards (since re-branded the Trangender Erotica Awards), a high-profile gig she made the most of.
“This niche is expanding,” she says of transgender erotica. “We need more mainstream allies. Jenna Jameson is a good ally, and Jessica Drake has been very supportive… They share the love.”
As she did in her XBIZ Awards acceptance speech, she gives a shout-out to Evil Angel director Joey Silvera. “He has been a huge supporter of mine. He gave me a lot of insight into the industry. He’s a great guy.”
Venus transitioned to female at age “19-20. I’m 23 now. In San Francisco. I’m proud of who I am, what I am. I’m able to not doubt myself. I feel right, proper. I’m in the comfort of my own skin.”
Growing up, she says, “I was forced to think as a boy, but my actions were more feminine. I always felt I wanted to be a woman but couldn’t imagine being one. Back then I labeled myself a guy. By default. I didn’t know what transgender was.
“A friend educated me about the lifestyle of being transgender and inspired me to make the change. I had a good job, a good boyfriend, a supportive family.” After the transition, “I worried about getting a job, filling out a resume, even what pronouns to use… Having to survive as a transsexual is hard. I felt judged, even in San Francisco.
“I used to be a ‘typical Asian’ — docile and submissive. But once your backbone gets cracked, you’ve got to get up and fight.”
Entering adult was also life-changing. “Porn has evolved me sexually. I was very vanilla.” Her Kink.com scenes involve heavy-duty B&D, with slapping, spitting, suspension. “I go with it when I work for Kink.com. I definitely like the rough sex. I’ve evolved into a kinkier lifestyle. That’s one of the benefits of shooting for them.”
While she enjoys working with women and transsexual women, she says, “Men will always be the standard for me.”
She is “really contemplating a full transition” to female, but wonders, “Would it make a difference to me? I’m not insecure with what I have.” Typically, she wants to educate herself about the process—including current advances in vaginoplasty—before making a decision.
“It’s a learning journey. I’m contemplating. But I’m happy with what I have.”
