ASACP Holding Self-Labeling Workshop at Internext

I’ve told you before about the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) and the good work the organization is doing on behalf of the adult industry; now it’s set for its latest initiative: a roundtable discussion on the issues surrounding the self-labeling of adult sites, being held in conjunction with Internext.

This Saturday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 307 of the Westin Diplomat’s North Tower, ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine will host “Self-Labeling: It’s Here,” featuring attorneys Lawrence Walters and Greg Piccionelli, ASACP technical consultant Brandon Shalton of Cydata Services, Mo Botero of SafeLabeling.org, and Justin Mattina of the Website Rating & Advisory Council (WRAAC).

A similar workshop was recently held at the XBIZ Summer Forum, providing support for ASACP’s labeling program which was developed with input from its “Town Hall” meeting and which will offer “a standard adult industry label for better enabling parental filtering, and to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to preventing children from viewing adult content.”

Labeling may soon be forced upon us, but smart operators won’t wait for the inevitable; they’ll label their sites and look for ways to improve the process.

I want to encourage all of you to take a little time out of your busy Internext schedules to attend this meeting and voice your opinion on this issue. I’ll see you there!
