Adobe Flash Builder for PHP

Formerly known as Adobe Flex Builder, Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 (www.adobe.com/products/flash-builder.html) is an Eclipse-based development tool that according to Adobe, rapidly builds expressive desktop, mobile and web applications with ActionScript and the Open Source Flex framework. It supports intelligent coding and an interactive step-though debugging process, along with visual design tools for developing user interface layouts — delivering natively connected mobile apps and more.

A wide variety of features makes code writing and testing easier, with more than 100 best-practice templates for ActionScript, CSS and MXML. Metadata code completion enhances content functionality, offering suggestions for Flex Software Development Kit (SDK) and custom metadata tags; while memory and performance profilers monitor and analyze parameters such as CPU cycles and memory consumption.

Adobe Flash Builder allows developers to differentiate their data-driven PHP apps via superior user experiences — reaching multiple devices while using a common codebase. Included tools allow scalable, high-performance and secure PHPbased Flex application components to be produced in an integrated environment, with the PHP version of the product containing a copy of Zend Studio 8.

“With the rapid growth of PHP adoption in the enterprise, delivering superior user experiences for web, mobile and desktop PHP applications has become critical for today’s developers,” Adobe VP Ed Rowe noted. “The integration of Zend Studio 8 with Flash Builder 4.5 brings together leading technologies for server-side and client-side development, enabling developers to efficiently and costeffectively create incredible applications across desktops, web and mobile platforms, including Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS and iOS.”

“Building mobile applications is top of mind for many of our enterprise customers,” Zend Technologies CEO Andi Gutmans stated. “The longstanding partnership between Zend and Adobe continues to produce exciting results, this time with Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP, which brings together best-of breed technologies for rapid and seamless development of mobile applications based on PHP, Flash technology and Flex.”

“With this new solution,” Gutmans added, “customers can deliver high quality applications faster to the market.”

If you’re in the market for a powerful programming solution, Adobe Flash Builder is worth a closer look, especially if PHP is the name of your game.
