The Chinese government’s crackdown on online adult content has strengthened even more today to now include 28 arrests, several newly targeted areas and a total of 277 website shutdowns over the past 11 days.
Chinese officials have furthered their crackdown on online adult content by shutting down a total of 91 websites containing “vulgar” and “harmful” material in less than a week.
The Chinese government extended its crackdown on online adult content late Thursday by targeting 14 additional websites, including Microsoft’s MSN China, and accusing them of spreading vulgarity.
Google remained comfortably atop the search market in April with a market share of more than 55 percent, while rival Microsoft experienced a slight decline in its share last month, according to the latest statistics published by Nielsen//NetRatings.
Representatives at Panda Software have found a worm they said sends infected users to fake versions of popular search engines like Yahoo, Google and MSN. The fake sites, exact copies of the legitimate engines, serve up fake search results designed to bolster traffic on web pages that host pornographic content and pirated software.
Search engine MSN.com will remove all communities designated as “adult” and “mature” communities from its area by late November, according to BetaNews.
The groups will be migrated to third-party site WorldGroups.com, which reportedly has agreed to host the adult-related communities.
