The ConSluts party at DragonCon is an adults-only party held in a private suite at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta. Sponsored by ConSluts.com, the adult-themed party is not officially endorsed by DragonCon, which aims to keep its programming kid friendly.
Party highlights include special guests from the sci-fi/fantasy world, and the opportunity for participants to join contests like "Banana eating," "Guess what's in my pants" and "Sexiest dancer," to win adult-themed prizes including Pink Visual DVDs and trading cards.
While the party is lighthearted in nature, ConSluts.com's Scott McGowan says it’s a response to the growing conservative programming of DragonCon.
"Though DragonCon has had programming catering to those living alternative sexual lifestyles such a polyamory and BDSM, that programming has dried up in recent years," McGowan said. "That's where the ConSluts.com party comes in. It fills a gap that has been left by the recent trend towards more conservative programming.
"Anyone who believes that fan conventions, especially those dealing with the science fiction genre, are little more than sexless, depressing vortexes swarming with four-eyed virgins and pimple-faced goofballs who carry multi-sided dice everywhere they go is sadly mistaken. A crowd of geeks can be totally sexy, given the proper time and place to express themselves."
Kate Sylvan, marketing and PR coordinator for Pink Visual, is pleased to have access to the ConSluts audience.
"This is a unique opportunity to reach out to a known fan-base," Sylvan said. "What's most interesting to me is that you don't see this kind of collaboration very often, because sci-fi/fantasy conventions are open to the general public and adult-themed content is often discouraged at the event itself. The idea to have an adult-themed party during a sci-fi convention is brilliant and we are flattered that Scott asked us to be a part of it."
ConSluts.com is a free website for fan convention attendees, concentrating on tutorials and fan convention coverage with a community feel. Users can also upload their own convention and party photos to share with other fans.
