NakedSword Launches ‘Turbo’ Portal

SAN FRANCISCO—NakedSword.com, the gay adult video-on-demand provider that serves more than 4,000 movies and scenes from gay studios both in the gay adult hub of San Francisco as well as worldwide, has debuted NakedSword 3.0 Turbo, redefining the way the eight-year-old company presents content.

“We have a very dedicated staff managing all these services in-house,” Senior Media Manager Michael Stabile told XBiz. Stabile said NakedSword had beeen planning to go live with the new site in May, but impending 2257 regulation changes at the time made that risky.

Instead, the company worked on 2257 compliance for an extra month and now keeps all model information in an isolated, locked room, something Free Speech Coalition layer Jeffery Douglas recommended at a recent FSC meeting.

“We created NakedSword 3.0 for customers who wanted more options in gay adult video online,” said Tim Valenti, NakedSword.com’s president. “We worked hard to get movies they requested, including big budget spectaculars like COLT’s 'Buckleroos' and Falcon Studio’s 'Taking Flight' and smaller, niche films like Dark Alley Media’s 'Mutiny.'

Valenti continued by saying, “We updated our look to make sure we stay the most attractive and efficient VOD site on the web and response has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Stabile said that the VIP Membership area, which now offers full-length movies as well as selected scenes, will expand to include more short scenes for purchase. “Some studios want their content streamed in full,” he said, “but as time goes on there will be more titles available by scene.”

The pay-by-scene model is also gaining favor in the straight adult world, with Sin City recently offering an even more rarefied pay-per-minute option.

“We really want viewers to develop relationships with individual studios, since studio affiliation is the strongest indicator of whether a viewer will enjoy a subsequent film on our site," Valenti said. "Many members still make their decision based on a particular star. We’d like to educate them to make better choices.”
