ASACP Named to Executive Group’s Honor Roll

LOS ANGELES – ASACP has been named to the 2008 Associations Advance America Honor Roll, a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives and The Center for Association Leadership.

ASACP, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, received the award for its RTA (Restricted To Adults) website label (https://rtalabel.org) which was developed out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only.

The RTA label is a unique string of "meta data," which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing age-inappropriate material.

ASACP launched the free and universally available RTA label in November 2006. RTA now boasts over 4 million link-ins.

Now in its 18th year, the prestigious Associations Advance America Awards program recognizes associations that propel America forward – ones that employ high degrees of innovation, business standards and community service.

"ASACP's program truly embodies the spirit of the Associations Advance America campaign," said Matthew D'Uva, CAE, president of SOCAP International and Associations Advance American Committee Chair. "It is an honor and an inspiration to showcase this activity as an example of the many contributions associations are making to Advance American society."

Joan Irvine, ASACP's executive director, said her group was honored to receive the award.

"Only 15 programs were named to the honor roll putting ASACP and RTA among some elite company. [We are] grateful to everyone who has made this possible by choosing to label with RTA."

Founded in 1996, ASACP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. The group battles child pornography through its CP reporting hotline, and by organizing the efforts of the online adult industry to combat the heinous crime of child sexual abuse. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online.
