Kink.com Hires Chad Belville as In-House Counsel

SAN FRANCISCO — Fetish content producer Kink.com has hired industry lawyer Chad Belville as its first in-house counsel.

Belville, aka ChadKnowsLaw, said he and Kink founder Peter Acworth first discussed the position at the XBIZ Summer Forum in July.

"It just goes to prove that attending trade shows does have real benefits," Belville told XBIZ. "Kink was looking for a good in-house counsel and I have been quietly looking for a good in-house position for a long time. Last week we finalized the deal and I put on the official Kink.com jersey."

Belville said he will bring his experience in contract writing, copyright enforcement and general practice to Kink, and after a month-long orientation period, he already feels part of an efficient machine.

"I think the great references I got from my current clients helped Kink decide to make the offer to me," Belville said. "Kink is a great company, and Peter Acworth is a very intelligent leader who really cares about producing the best content in his market. I thought I would fit well into their company, emphasizing high quality and doing things the right way."

Acworth said Belville is a good fit at the company and will help it expand in 2008.

"Chad Belville brings years of experience in the industry and a broad understanding of the unique issues faced by companies specializing in quality adult entertainment," Acworth said. "[Also,] he is well known on the gay side, where we want to expand."

Though he will be spending most of his time working with Kink in San Francisco, Belville said he still will service a small number of regular clients and will spend a few days each month in Phoenix.

"While I will miss the year-round summer in Phoenix I don't think I will miss the 110 degrees and above every August," Belville said.
