Up for re-election are Board President Jim Everett of the Everett Group, Board Treasurer Joy King of Wicked Pictures and Board Members Greg Shearer of White Tiger Releasing and Nellie Symm-Gruender of Passions.
New nominees proposed by FSC members include include Eric Bernstein, Esq. of Eric Bernstein & Associates; Bill Gardner of Hot Desert Knights; XBIZ Publisher Tom Hymes; Paul Morris of Treasure Island Media; Theresa Reed (Darklady) of YNOT; Tom Stewart of Sportsheets and Steve Toushin of Bijou Video.
“It is important to make sure we have current information to allow all of our members to participate in the election process,” FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said.
The FSC has posted listings for each nominee on its website, including background information concerning each applicant’s credentials, experience in the industry and his or her perspective on the key issues facing the FSC in the year ahead.
This election marks the first time that the FSC has used the Internet in its election process, a move that Duke said was designed to ensure a strong turnout among its members.
“If we want maximum participation from our membership, then we will meet members where they live,” Duke said. “This is our members’ chance to choose the leadership and therefore the direction for FSC; we encourage everyone to vote.”
The winners will serve two-year terms, which will kick off following the announcement of the election results at the FSC’s membership meeting at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas next month.
Duke told XBIZ that there are several major issues facing the FSC in 2008.
“2257, obviously — we’re anticipating more litigation there,” Duke said. “The piracy issue is a major concern for many of our members, the sex toy bans in many states is another thing we want to address, and we’ll be working on organizing [adult entertainment] consumers, as well.”
