Electra filed suit this month against NWWL and others, claiming the league owes her $300,000 plus royalties for her work as hostess, according to CN wire service. Further, Electra — whose given name is Tara Patrick — also claims the many defendants falsely claimed that she created the 3-year-old league.
In the suit, Electra said she is "an extremely well-known and immensely popular actress" who is "highly sought after as a spokesperson and commercial actress."
Toronto-based 121 Ventures Inc.'s Howard Mann was surprised when XBIZ told him of the suit. Mann, president of 121 Ventures, which owns the league, added he hadn't seen a copy of the complaint.
"Frankly, we were about to file suit first," Mann told XBIZ. "We've been in negotiations with her lawyer for some time now, and she just beat us to the punch.
"I have notified her that she is in breach of contract. I have taken her off our web pages."
Electra did not return phone calls seeking comment on the suit.
NWWL, which started the league three years ago, sells pay-per-view VOD of the matches on cable and satellite. It also offers feeds on its website.
The site, which also draws traffic from affiliates, includes a members-only VIP area with pay-per-minute live video feeds, pay-per-view extreme footage and branded merchandise.
Electra, the former vixen of “Baywatch” and MTV and Playboy fame served as the commissioner of the program, which combines full nudity with World Wrestling Entertainment-style wrestling.
“The girls [are] real rock-em, sock-em,” NWWL's Jim Tykoliz told XBIZ in 2004. “We expect to create a cult-classic program.”
