The new forms are localized for the consumer, automatically determining the customer’s location and delivering the required data in the surfer’s native language, as determined by the country where he or she is located.
According to a client notice on the CCBill website, “if a consumer is located in France, the language of the form will be French, pricing will be displayed in Euros and the consumer’s country will be automatically set to France. The same holds true for all other countries.”
One major benefit for consumers is the savings on currency conversion fees; since the currency is set on the form according to the customer’s location and their native currency, it is the exact price that they will pay. However, if the customer chooses to pay in a non-native form of currency, a currency conversion fee may still be charged.
The geo-IP forms are now active on all client accounts, requiring no additional setup, while advanced users have the option of overriding the automatic geo-IP detection process, passing user variables such as the visitor’s country, manually through to the signup form; or even deactivating the system entirely on all or individual sub-accounts.
In a recent post at adult webmaster forum JBM, CCBill CEO Ron Cadwell claimed that the new forms have resulted in an across-the-board increase in sales of over 15 percent.
"I guess delivering forms in the surfer's own language and currency first really does make that much of a difference," Cadwell said.
