AIM Healthcare Post ‘Porn 101’ Video on Site

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. — Adult Industry Medicare Healthcare Foundation (AIM) has posted “Porn 101” on their website. The two-hour video gives potential adult performers information on what they should expect once they enter the industry.

The video, which was originally created as an instructional handout DVD for newbie performers, features AIM founder Dr. Sharon Mitchell addressing issues ranging from STD testing and proper documentation, to how to contact a legitimate agent or deal with a pushy director.

“Earlier this year, we revamped it a little bit and we broke it down into two parts; ‘Porn 101 and 102.’ The video on the site is actually a combination of both,” AIM Chief Medical Director Patric Hernandez-Kline told XBIZ. “The first part is more medical, and talks about the medical services and what you can expect once you’re in the industry. The second portion of it talks more about professional issues, like how to book a job, how to handle some of the pressures of the industry and that type of thing.”

The video can be accessed by clicking an age verification link on the front page of the AIM site. The video then appears in Flash and last a little more than two hours.

According to Hernandez-Kline, the AIM site also will be revamped to provide easier navigation and more informational content. New patients typically at the clinic are unlikely to sit through an hours-long debriefing on the adult industry, Hernandez-Kline said they can now visit the website for information, at their convenience or before they schedule their first appointment with AIM.

He indicated also that a few agents in the industry have said there’s too much information on the ‘Porn 101’ video that might discourage prospective performers from entering the business.

“You know, we don’t want to discourage people from having sex,” Hernandez-Kline said. “We just want them to be well-informed and know what they’re getting into.”

AIM was founded in 1998 by former-performer-turned-clinician Mitchell after an HIV outbreak involving several performers. The nonprofit organization facilitates HIV/STD testing for industry performers and provides other medical services and resources for industry members.
