ObjectCube Goes Entirely Adult, Adds NATS

TORONTO — Video-on-demand solution developer ObjectCube announced Monday that it has sold off its mainstream division and is going to begin incorporating NATS technology into its systems in conjunction with its third birthday this week.

The company, started in January 2002, counts many of the adult industry’s largest VOD vendors among its clients, including AEBN, Adam & Eve, NakedSword and XonDemand, and is nominated for a 2004 XBiz Solution Provider of the Year Award.

“In the past year, 95 percent of revenue and 100 percent of our profit came from adult clients,” said Jay Janarthanan, ObjectCube chief technology officer and founder, in a statement. “So, we made the decision to concentrate strictly on the adult market.”

In addition to moving entirely into the adult market, ObjectCube also entered into an alliance with affiliate tracking solution NATS and will begin using it exclusively as their default software for affiliate management.

According to Janarthanan, the alliance was due to recognizing the quality of the NATS software.

“We were looking at the option of developing our own affiliate management and cascade billing software into the ObjectCube VOD solution, but we found the guys at NATS had done a better job than anyone else, so we decided to integrate into their product instead of building our own,” Janarthanan said.

The outlook for the new year looks bright, according to the company, which intends to offer several new products during 2005, including an advance cataloging system, a high-speed download manager, pay-per-click options, Macintosh support and fraud detection solutions.

“2005 is going to be the year of video-on-demand,” said Janarthanan. “A few months ago, we saw that broadband users had surpassed dial-up users for the first time and this is a turning point in the industry.”
