Woodhull Freedom Foundation to Hold Online Events on Censorship, Obscenity

WASHINGTON — The Woodhull Freedom Foundation is set to host a series of three online events focusing on art censorship in the current environment.

Woodhull teams up with FIRE for “Art Censorship in Post-Roe America” on Wednesday at 12:00 pm PDT to discuss a recent instance of censorship in Idaho, where art was removed from an on-campus exhibition due to Idaho's No Public Funds for Abortion Act. Woodhull President & CEO Ricci Levy will moderate this panel with artists and lawyers to discuss what happened in Idaho and what can be done about it.

On Friday at 9 a.m. PDT, Woodhull and the National Coalition Against Censorship present “We Removed Your Post,” part of the October Censorship Series program. Woodhull COO Mandy Salley will be joined by Emma Shapiro of Don’t Delete Art and Elizabeth Larison of the National Coalition Against Censorship for a discussion about the ways in which art and artists are censored online.

Then, the November Censorship Program kicks off Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. PDT with Mandy Salley, who returns for a conversation about “The Thin Line Between Obscenity and Censorship,” featuring Air Cohn of TechFreedom and Barry Lynn, formerly of Americans United and the ACLU.

The programs are free with RSVP. Donations are encouraged to support the sexual freedom advocacy work of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation.
