MUMBAI, India — Sangya Project has debuted its first vibrator, Sangya 1, in partnership with Besharam.
Sangya 1 is touted as “the first-ever intimate vibrator entirely manufactured in India” and “a major milestone in the journey to creating affordable pleasure for Indians.”
According to the manufacturer, after extensive research and development, the designers of Sangya 1 opted for a sleek, discreet shape that avoids resembling any anatomical features, and matte black silicone.
“Through minimalist design and discreet branding and packaging, Sangya has been able to prioritize consumer safety and privacy,” a rep noted.
Shweta Sangtani, Sangya Project co-founder and CEO, said, “Though the Indian market has immense potential for pleasure products, there has been no manufacturing facility for sextech in the country. India has been importing pleasure products, because of which the retail cost increases. By manufacturing locally, we can cut costs and maintain control over quality and supply.”
Raj Armani, COO and co-founder of Besharam, which began investing in Sangya Project in 2022, added, “The idea of 'making in India' was a passion project for us from the get-go. Not only does it bring the trophy back home, but it also brings India into the race with other world-class manufacturers and suppliers, who can follow the lead of giants like Apple, Samsung, Sony and others to manufacture in India what they will sell in India. With a population of 1.3 billion, we have the most chance of success anywhere in the world to grow and cater to this population, 98% of which has never used a vibrator before.”
Sangya 1, Shweta concluded, “is proof of India’s vibrant manufacturing and retail sectors. As the nation’s first locally manufactured massager, we offer consumers a one-year warranty with repairs included. Sangya Project is the only brand to offer such capabilities to its consumers.”
