DallasNovelty.com Founder Nick Mahler Passes Away

DALLAS — Nick Mahler, the founder of online retail site DallasNovelty.com and a prominent advocate for disabled-oriented pleasure products, has passed away.

According to a Facebook update posted on Mahler’s profile by his sister, Mahler passed away in his sleep last night. His colleagues from the pleasure products industry quickly reacted online.

“So sorry to hear of the passing this morning of Nick Mahler of Dallas Novelty,” said Shellie Martin of Crystal Delights. “One of the kindest people I ever worked with!”

Expressing her heartbreak over the loss, Holiday Products’ Molly Romeo praised, “What a lifeforce he was.”

Viben Toys’ Conde Aumann added, “The world lost one of the great ones today.”

Alexandra Cage, a former adult retail industry vet, said she first met Mahler while working for a distributor in 2007.

"He was one of my first customers and we remained in contact throughout my career, including company changes where he followed me until 2015 when I left the industry," she said. "Nick was loved by the industry as a whole, both video and novelty side for his strength, determination and positive impact on everyone he met. A shining example of the abilities of the disabled community wherein they do not let their condition overtake their lives and he strived to be a shining example of success for everyone who met him.

"The impact Nick had on the community will forever be felt and his presence will be forever missed," Cage added. "Do not let his passing close your eyes to others with his condition as he tried to raise awareness for others because it is exceptionally rare. Nick and his condition are both extremely rare and we were lucky to know such an incredible person in our industry. We will miss him. Our hearts and condolences go out to his wife, sister and family."

Mahler launched Dallas Novelty in 2003 and over the decades expanded into a megasite offering more than 17,000 products, with the tagline “Sex is for Everybody.”

“‘Sex is for Everybody’ means exactly that, we want to help anyone that wants to have sex to do so safely, and help them to achieve the pleasure they desire,” Mahler said in a 2017 XBIZ interview. “It doesn’t matter if they have a rare muscular skeletal disease like I have, or a veteran with an injury from being deployed, or if they are simply experiencing the sands of time catching up to them and need a little extra help.”
