LOS ANGELES — Last week, Refinery 29 published an interview with Maitland Ward in which the 2022 XBIZ Performer of the Year enthused about her five favorite sex toys.
Ward, Refinery 29 writer Charlotte Lewis explained, “has made it her mission to help other pleasure-curious folks by delving into her wealth of experience and sexpert knowledge.”
“You need a vibrator on your clit,” Ward told Lewis, before selecting her choices for “the top five sex toys you need in your collection to help you maximize your sexual pleasure journey.”
The Deeper contract star started off by singing the praises of the famed Magic Wand, the “back massager” formerly known as the Hitachi.
“When I molded for my Fleshlight,” Ward revealed, “they gave me a Hitachi beforehand because it makes all the blood flow [to the clit], and makes you look beautiful. So when I was molded, I looked ready for action. But it's really true. It really gets you going.”
Another style of sex toy selected by Ward was any suction vibrator, such as the LELO Sona 2 Cruise.
"They have so many advanced versions of these toys," she noted. "It just stimulates the right area. I think it's very cool suction vibrators are having such a moment, because people are really recognizing their clit is right where they need to be to get an orgasm in the best possible way."
Ward then lauded her glass dildo and the joys of temperature play. “You have to use it a little bit more carefully because it's very hard,” she explained. “But if you put it in the refrigerator, it can be very stimulating.”
Moving into kinkier territory, Ward recommended starting with a BDSM kit with basic restraints, a blindfold and a flogger, such as the one offered by Bondage Boutique.
“I think people need to keep in mind the five senses always,” she advised. “I think people don't realize it doesn't have to be so total BDSM. It's cool to feel things without one of your senses, like without sight or without sound ... sensory deprivation can be really fun to play with.”
Ward’s final selection was the stylish Maude Cone for anal play. Explaining that Ward recently wrote and directed a DP scene for Vixen, Lewis offered that the star “cannot recommend playing around with anal stimulation more, and hopes to make this year ‘the year of the butt.’”
"You can get so much pleasure from your asshole," Ward enthused. "And I think women are so nervous about it. They're so nervous about being clean and being able to take it. The nerves make you get tight. So, I think it's important to play around with yourself in that way and see how you feel comfortable. Self-exploration is the key — start small!"
