VANCOUVER — JuicyAds has rolled out new proxy, VPN and colohost blocking, enabling advertisers to remove banner campaigns from swaths of the internet with the flip of a switch.
As proxy and VPN use has increased significantly in recent years, a rep explained, “there is a misguided perception among some people that all proxy traffic is worthless. But proxy, incognito and private options are now commonplace on all major browsers, and people use them all the time.”
Many advertising networks therefore either do not block proxy and colohost traffic at all, or they widely block it.
Instead, the rep noted, JuicyAds is giving advertisers the choice to decide whether they consider proxy traffic valuable or not.
“Some individual advertisers,” the rep explained, “understand that many people commonly use VPNs and Proxies in normal every day Internet use, and treat the traffic like normal website visitors. Others' opinions differ, with some suggesting that people behind a proxy have little to no value and will not purchase anything or are fraudulent, although this is not the case. Individual advertisers consider the quality of the traffic differently.”
CEO Juicy Jay said, “At JuicyAds, we believe the decision should be yours, so we allow easy enabling and disabling of proxy, VPN or colohost traffic.”
Jay provided a personal example, saying, “I use a VPN every single day for work. I don't use it for safety or privacy concerns, but because it's just a tool I frequently use. I just as often forget to turn it off when doing the other hundred things I do throughout the day. There are lots of legitimate people behind proxies, and just as many non-legitimate. Now the choice is yours to block them or purchase those clicks."
