Pornhub Releases 2020 'Transparency Report'

LOS ANGELES — Pornhub has released its first “Transparency Report,” covering the period from January to December 2020.

According to the company, the report provides visibility into its content moderation processes, including details related to the following:

  • The tools we use to combat the spread of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), non-consensual content, and other illegal materials, and to deter perpetrators who seek to circumvent our rules
  • Offending content and how much of that content we have taken down
  • The reports we receive from users and external sources

The report reiterates Pornhub's stated goal to "ensure effective content moderation processes, which are regularly re-evaluated and adapted as new technologies and methods become available from third parties and as we develop our own internal software solutions."

The report contains sections titled “Our Approach to Content Moderation” — including  “Our Upload & Review Process,” “Cutting-Edge Automated Detection Technology,” “Human Moderators” and “User & Public Generated Reports” — as well as “Initiatives and Developments in 2020,” “Corporate Responsibility,” “CSAM Material,” “Cooperation With Law Enforcement” and “Copyright Removals.”

Pornhub also reports they are working on “several projects that will make Pornhub even safer and more user-friendly” in 2021.

“With every transparency report,” the report concluded, “we seek to provide more information and pledge to make our reports as accessible and informative as possible. Of course, in time, we also aspire to make our Trust and Safety Center itself a go-to source for anyone seeking readily available information on our platform’s policies and procedures. Ultimately, through these combined efforts going forward, we strive for Pornhub to become the industry standard as the safest online adult platform — and again, we welcome all feedback that will help us improve along this journey.”
