WorldStream Expands Leadership Team, Names Mark Chandler Finance Director

LOS ANGELES — WorldStream, an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) hosting provider boasting over 15,000 dedicated servers in Netherlands-based data centers, has announced the expansion of its leadership team with the addition of Mark Chandler as Finance Director.

Chandler previously worked in a variety of management roles for one of the Big Four global audit and consulting giants, EY.

Founded in 2006, WorldStream has reported significant growth since the company began offering unmetered dedicated servers, growing to a bandwidth capacity of more than 10Tbps, and leading to the construction of a new data hall in its flagship facility to double its capacity.

According to WorldStream, this significant business growth brings along new responsibilities with regard to financial control operations. In the newly created leadership role, Chandler will be responsible for the company’s global financial control operations and financial processes.

“Finance is a crucial part of an organization anyway, but it becomes even more important when significant company growth is involved,” said Chandler. “WorldStream has grown into a thriving organization with company-owned data centers, a continuously growing international client base and an expanding IaaS hosting solutions portfolio. We’ll soon launch WorldStream Elastic Network, a software-defined global network with extensive, flexible IaaS hosting functionality available at the edge of WorldStream’s 10Tbps global backbone. This will attract even more clients, particularly in the SMB market segment, which will have its implications for the finance function and preparing the organization for structured further growth. I’m really looking forward to this key role in the WorldStream management team.”

During his 18 years of tenure with EY, Chandler worked for nearly a decade in various audit roles, while he has spent the last nine years working on cross-border advisory projects, including due diligence services, in the field of acquisitions, re-financing and private equity.

“My work at EY was international-oriented and quite dynamic but mainly project-based and always as an advisor to our clients,” Chandler explained. “I was looking for a finance role with ultimate responsibilities, something I found with WorldStream. Again, it’s an organization active on the global stage. The mission-critical technologies being delivered to clients on every continent, with uptime guarantees, again make this quite a dynamic company and an engaging management role to fill. From my background, a takeover could be interesting sometime down the road, but we’ll see. I know what it takes to back up a scaling organization with strong financial fundamentals and I’m looking forward to further growth in the coming years.”

WorldStream CEO Lennert Vollebregt described Chandler as "the right person at the right moment for this financial management role."

“The wealth of international knowledge and experience he brings from EY will help take our organization and finance function to the next stage," he said. “He will help lead the WorldStream organization into the next phase of structured growth, with the implementation of new ERP systems, more comprehensive data-driven decision making, and solid management of our funding and financial partners."

"Last year, we already expanded our leadership team significantly when promoting six employees to the role of company director. Mark is the missing piece in the management team that we needed to be complete," concluded Vollebregt.
