SexLikeReal Hacks Oculus Quest, App Enables 6K Playback

LOS ANGELES — SexLikeReal.com is among the first to get its hands on the newly released Oculus Quest — and after hacking the device, revealed that when it comes to VR porn, Quest offers “one of the most awe-inspiring experiences.”

According to SLR, the headset setup takes less than two minutes, even for novice users, and invites inevitable comparisons with the previous generation Oculus Go.

“The Oculus Quest is great for watching porn on a 3K screen without any wires or cables getting in the way!” exclaimed an SLR representative. “It’s a great upgrade from the Oculus Go with its 2560×1440 resolution display. It also has much better ergonomics and materials.”

While the new headset is 100g (~3.5oz) heavier than the Go, SLR reported the weight to be better distributed over the user’s head so that it sits much better now. With a fully charged battery, viewers can enjoy watching VR videos nonstop for more than an hour and at an affordable $400 price point the device provides the biggest bang for the buck.

As good as it already is, the performance of the Quest has been significantly boosted by several SLR hacks, which enables viewers to watch original quality 5K/6K 60fps videos via the SLR app.

“Using Viewport technology, the video file is cut into multiple pieces and some of these are played simultaneously depending on where it’s being watched … due to the fact that the user always watches around 100 degrees of [a] video,” the representative explained. “In this way, the possible playback resolution of the Snapdragon 835 chipset of 4096×2048@60fps is overcome, along with reduced heat and longer battery life.”

With only 64GB or 128GB of storage depending on the model, users will quickly fill up their Quest as many VR titles can push 20GB each. SLR’s app provides a one-click streaming solution, with Viewport also granting additional zoom and requiring much less bandwidth, ensuring there’s no overheating and extending the headset’s battery life by two to three times.

Quest’s full 6DOF head and hand tracking put it ahead of 3DOF mobile headsets, such as the Oculus Go, GearVR, Daydream or any Cardboard or phone-based device, so another hack the SLR app offers focuses on creating an enhanced 3DOF video experience.

“Stand up or step to the side, and the 3DOF VR illusion is broken. With the current generation of VR video technology, you can rotate your head all over the place but there’s no way to physically move around,” the representative said. “The SLR app has a built-in ‘head tracking’ feature allowing the user to change the perspective of a video to catch up with head movements.”

“It works well when you lean forward with the video being zoomed, especially with the extra resolution available,” the representative added. “It’s also a great way to compensate for the natural micro shaking of the viewer’s head.”

Although Facebook has tried to keep the Quest app store clear from what they perceive as undesirable content, Oculus Quest is Android-powered, so there is an option to overcome this lockout and side load the SLR app by switching the device into developer mode.

SLR is currently offering a 57 percent discount on more than 3,000 videos in its premium library through the promo code “QUEST2019” to make it easier for fans to enjoy high-quality VR on a hacked Oculus Quest — or any other VR device.
