NEW YORK — With Earth Day 2019 approaching, Blush Novelties is touting its Gaia collection of eco-friendly, sustainable adult toys and pleasure products and a variety of green initiatives for employees and retailers.
Earth Day 2019 will be celebrated Monday, April 22.
One newly launched product from Blush Novelties is the Gaia Eco Bullet, now available in three colors — Green, Aqua and Coral — in classic forms, with a strong motor, and a point-of-purchase display that includes a free floor tester. They are body-safe and easy to clean and maintain.
Blush describes “sex toy sustainability” as materials “sourced from botanical elements, using fewer greenhouse gasses in production and having the lightest end-of-life impact on the environment,” a rep said. “Gaia pleasure products biodegrade quickly with the help of industrial recycling facilities. They will also biodegrade naturally in landfills after a few centuries.”
The company’s packaging is made of recycled paper with no plastic inserts.
“At Blush, we seek to make great pleasure products using sustainable materials,” said CEO Verna Meng. “Bioplastic is a perfect choice for vibrators since it is nonporous, making it completely safe, clean for use in the body and biodegradable.”
Blush Novelties is the 2019 XBIZ Awards winner for Pleasure Products Company of the Year — Sex Toys.
Gaia, meanwhile, was a 2018 XBIZ Awards nominee for Marketing Campaign of the Year for its Earth Day and Arbor Day initiatives to plant trees. Those efforts continue today.
“Together, with the participation of adult retailers who sell Gaia vibrators, Blush will be planting one tree for every online store that carries Gaia and shares their URL. Blush will also plant one tree for every store that shares a photo of their Gaia products on their shelves,” a rep said.
A social media campaign runs through Earth Day and includes the Twitter and Instagram hashtag #GaiaGreenTeam.
Additionally, a “Go Green” companywide initiative offers cash incentives to employees who buy or lease an electric car, and who install Tesla solar panels on their homes.
“Climate change is a real issue,” said Blush COO Eric Lee. “I want to do my best to protect [our] future. I am hoping, with this initiative, that I can influence a few people in our small company; by announcing this to our industry, I can influence other business owners to also do something similar. Together, as an industry, we can make a difference.”
