LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) enjoyed a successful start to the New Year — kicking off 2019 by attending two key events, where it conveyed its message regarding the role of proactive corporate responsibility in online child protection.
The annual XBIZ Show in Los Angeles and Internext Expo in Las Vegas both serve two of the non-profit organization’s primary targets for outreach — the adult entertainment and digital media industries — businesses that are on the frontline of the battle to keep minors out of and away from adult-oriented materials on the internet and in apps.
The XBIZ Show took place from January 14-18 at Hollywood’s luxurious Andaz Hotel and was crowned by the 17th annual XBIZ Awards honoring industry excellence. The XBIZ Show features market focused seminars that offer critical insights into top trends and emerging business opportunities, guest keynotes by the industry’s most influential insiders, relationship building networking activities, and parties on the world-famous Sunset Strip.
ASACP’s Executive Director, Tim Henning, and Membership Manager, Dawn Yagielowicz, attended the event where they met with current and prospective sponsors and members.
Among the highlights of ASACP’s presence at the 2019 XBIZ Show, was Henning’s presentation of the association’s coveted annual Service Recognition Award at the XBIZ Exec Awards ceremony, with the honor going to online age verification pioneer Alastair Graham, the CEO of Age Checked Ltd., ASACP’s exclusive Diamond Sponsor.
Henning also presented a workshop detailing the latest information about child safety, age verification and its role in keeping children safe, and how association initiatives such as ASACP’s globally applauded Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta label aids parents by working with filtering tools to automatically block children’s access to billions of adult-oriented web pages and mobile apps. This is a technological solution provided free of charge to all website and app publishers thanks to the generosity of ASACP’s sponsors.
In addition, Henning and Yagielowicz participated in the XBIZ Show’s popular “Mix & Meet” event where they met with current and prospective sponsors to discuss how modern media companies and service providers can do their part to further online child protection — and why it is so important to support the association today. ASACP also reached out to attendees through an ad in the show guide; flyers in the show gift bags; and received complimentary admission to the event courtesy of XBIZ and its sponsors; providing prominent exposure for the association at this exclusive adult industry trade gathering.
“ASACP has attended the XBIZ Show since it began. Attracting an elite audience of decision-makers and industry stakeholders, the event allows ASACP to reach the people who can make a real difference in protecting children online,” Henning states. “Because the XBIZ Show covers all segments of the adult entertainment and digital media industries, it provides numerous opportunities for the association to spread our message while beginning our annual fundraising and sponsorship drives.”
Following the L.A. event, Henning traveled to Las Vegas to participate at other industry events.
