TORONTO — Vice Magazine recently profiled Cortana Blue, a top cam model who doubles as Laika, a synth-pop artist trying to build up her listenership.
Vice said that, “Though she’s new to the world of pop music, she’s entered it with somewhat of a celebrity status. That’s because, up until recently, she’s been known by another alias: Cortana Blue. And as Cortana, she’s one of the most popular camgirls on the planet.”
Maintaining two careers must be a challenge, but Laika the recording artist is finding welcome success. Her debut single, “Earl Grey,” has garnered 100,000 combined Spotify and Apple Music streams.
“If people only cared about me being naked I would have no streams,” she told Vice. “So it's clearly like, people embracing the fact I can do both, and why not?”
Cortana Blue, the cam model, raised $30,000 (Canadian dollars) for her first music video, starring her music side, Laika.
She did this by selling her private Snapchat, along with clips via ManyVids.
“It was like, a crazy lucrative month for me,” she said.
Cortana Blue told Vice that she may never stop camming because on an average night camming can generate $1,000 (Canadian dollars) with relative ease.
Her premium Snapchat, which costs users $50 to $100 (Canadian dollars), currently has 2,500 followers. She concedes it would be much higher, had it not been previously deleted.
Cortana Blue’s Twitter and Instagram accounts both exceed 100,000 followers each.
