ASACP Declares June 4 'Label With RTA' Day

LOS ANGELES — ASACP has declared June 4 “Label With RTA” Day, and is urging adult sites that have not adopted the RTA (“Restricted to Adults”) website label to do so. ASACP staff will answer questions about the label on the GFY Webmasters Board on June 4 from 12 - 2 p.m. PDT .

The organization also is asking supporters to contact websites and encourage them to use the tag.

“Even though Congress hasn’t made website labeling mandatory yet, it’s likely they’ll keep tossing new rules against the wall until one finally sticks” ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine told XBIZ. "So using the RTA website label is important not only because it helps prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate content online, but also because it shows the adult industry is capable of self-regulation.”

The RTA label has been endorsed by adult production companies and websites, industry attorneys and the Free Speech Coalition. The tag also is recognized by parental filtering products and services.

“When we tell legislators and reporters about RTA, we need the statistics to back it up," Irvine said. "The more adult sites labeled with RTA, the stronger our case.”

Information about using the RTA label is available at RTALabel.org.

ASACP, formally known as the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet. ASACP also works to help parents prevent children from viewing age-inappropriate material online.
