LAS VEGAS — War Machine’s sentencing date has been postponed to June 5 to allow his legal team additional time to strategize.
War Machine was granted the new sentencing date by Clark County District Judge Elissa Cadish after his attorneys, Jay Leiderman and Brandon Sua, cited the sheer volume of convictions — 29 — that must be addressed.
War Machine was scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow.
In March, War Machine was found guilty by a jury of 29 out of 34 charges stemming from an attack on porn star and ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and the man he caught in bed with her, Corey Thomas.
Leiderman told XBIZ today: “I needed more time to get ready. It’s a lot of work.”
War Machine, 35, was found guilty of six Class A felonies. The penalty for the most serious Class A charge, kidnapping with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, could range from a maximum of life without parole to a minimum of a 40-year sentence with a 15-year possibility for parole.
He also could get up to 20 additional years because of the use of a deadly weapon, such as the kitchen knives he used in the attack.
Those possible penalties don’t take in consideration the scores of other charges War Machine was convicted of in March.
