HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — AdamAndEve.com has some new results from its annual sex survey.
The sex toy and novelty retailer asked more than 1,000 adults if they’d ever seen a friend, roommate or parent’s sex toy by mistake, and their answers may surprise some.
Of those polled, 35 percent of the men and 27 percent of the women said they had seen a friend or family member’s sex toy left out in the open.
Seventy-three percent of the women versus 65 percent of the men had never seen a friend or family member’s sex toy by mistake.
AdamAndEve.com “sexpert” Dr. Kat Van Kirk said that sex toys can be “amazing” on their own or with a partner. ("Sex Chat With Dr. Kat" can be found on podcasts through iTunes or DrKat.com.)
“To maintain your privacy, invest in an ‘adult’ toy box or bag, or look into toys that don’t scream ‘sex,’” she said. “There are plenty of products available that look like small electronics, makeup or objects of art, in the event that they are seen.”
Chad Davis, AdamAndEve.com’s director of marketing, said that his company offers a variety of adult toys and discreet toy bags in a variety of shapes and sizes to help out.
The web-based survey of more than 1,000 adults age 18 and up was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
