Report: Tasha Reign Discusses Society's Acceptance of Porn Stars

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Review-Journal recently interviewed adult film actress, producer and sex columnist Tasha Reign, about how society is becoming increasingly accepting of porn stars.

While Reign was enrolled as a student at UCLA, she was selected by Playboy magazine for its 2010 "Girls of the Pac-10" issue and was its "Cyber Girl of the Week." She was also featured as a centerfold model in the April 2011 issue of Penthouse, before being honored as Penthouse Pet of the Month. In 2014, Reign graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in gender studies, and her adult entertainment career has continued picking up speed ever since.

"Ever since I knew what a nude model was, that's what I wanted, kind of like how boys see a football player and say, 'That's what I want to do, that looks liberating,'" Reign said.

"These girls looked like they were having a good time. They were making movies people could be entertained by," she added. "They looked beautiful. They looked free. They were making money. And it looked like more of a long-term career."

As sexting and casual sex dating apps become more and more popular, Reign sees a growing acceptance of porn stars in society. "I want people to embrace themselves and their sexuality. I want them to be OK with being a woman and having more than a few partners in their life," Reign said. "What's problematic is we really don't have a strong sex education at all. People should not be learning their first sex (lessons) from porn."

Adult film actress Joanna Angel also commented on modern sex attitudes. "People don't think it's weird when you say you do porn anymore. They just want to ask 100 questions about it, and the last question is always, 'Well, how do I do one? I want to have your job,'" Angel said.

These shifting perspectives in society have led to a third of women admitting they watch porn weekly, and new California sex education legislation that actress Jessica Drake sees as a very positive step forward.
