LOS ANGELES — Lost porn documentary "Finding Refinements in Love" (1971) will be screened on May 28 at the Fox Cabaret in Vancouver, B.C. Canada at 8 p.m.
The film will be hosted by Cinema Sewer’s Robin Bougie and porn archeologist Dimitrios Otis.
Just before porn became legal and easily available to the public in North America after the success of Gerard Damiano’s "Deep Throat," the hosts said porn fans were only able to see graphic sex via a short lived documentary subgenre known as the “white coater." These films hoped to stop the cops from closing the smut theaters down for obscenity by mixing hardcore sex with education, and this made for some very unusual films.
Otis recently rediscovered other forgotten porn artifacts such as the Canadian porn "Sexcula" and Ed Wood’s last movie "The Young Marrieds."
