CANNES — Seventy percent of Americans and 91 percent of French have watched an adult movie, according to European porn producer and distributor Marc Dorcel.
Those stats, culled by Marc Dorcel and IFOP in France and Paint Bottle in the U.S., were released as the French studio and broadcaster celebrated its 35th anniversary earlier this month during this year’s MIPTV in Cannes.
The MIPTV, formally known as the Marché International des Programmes de Télévision, set the stage for the adult brand, which showed off its first adult application for smart TVs and celebrated the anniversary with invited guests at Club Les Marches. At the show, Gregory Dorcel, CEO of Marc Dorcel, addressed delegates of MIPCube, a digital branch of the MIPTV, during a conference on trends and strategies for on-demand video.
“After our VOD services rollout, the launch of our first 3D services, Marc Dorcel continues to break new ground and clearly positions itself as a key player of convergence and innovation at the service of adult entertainment," said Dorcel, according to Broadband TV News. "Our goal is to make our contents and services available at any moment and on any device.”
Founded in 1979, Marc Dorcel, which today counts three TV channels with more than 1.3 million subscribers in 30 countries, has kept up with the times by innovating. Today, Marc Dorcel boasts more than 15 VOD platforms, web and mobile sites, TV channels, magazines and a 3D movie catalogue. It also produces 36 films per year and distributes films from more than 50 international studios.
