SEATTLE — Homegrown Video President Farrell Timlake, along with several amateur adult performers and a feminist studies performer, discussed the appeal of amateur porn on HuffPost Live today.
The 23-minute interview, called "Amateur: The Rise of Do-It-Yourself Porn," discussed such topics as why is amateur porn niche so popular and are orgasms really real?
Timlake was joined with Celine Parreñas Shimizu, co-editor of "The Feminist Porn Book" and professor of feminist studies and film studies at UC Santa Barbara, and married couple Steve Bigs and Falicha Kerr, who shoot for Homegrown Video. HuffPost Nancy Redd moderated the discussion.
Timlake said that fans of amateur porn, which Homegrown Video produces and distributes online and on DVD, want "real people, real bodies and real enjoyment" and that despite so much free porn on the Internet, porn consumers want "quality" and content online that is virus-free.
