NakedSword and Playgirl Partner on VOD Site

SAN FRANCISCO – NakedSword and Playgirl publisher Trans Digital Media have penned a deal to launch PlaygirlOnDemand.com, which will feature solo male videos from some of the top gay production studios.

The deal marks Playgirl’s first major entrée into the VOD market, and the company plans to offer the pay-per-view site through its main website PlaygirlTV.com.

So far, the new membership site will feature content from Falcon and COLT Studios.

NakedSword President Tim Valenti welcomed the deal with Trans Digital Media and Playgirl as a chance to offer more original content to the untapped market of female consumers as well as help the Playgirl brand mature online.

“We identified and had feedback from female consumers on our properties for years, but the taboos surrounding woman and porn consumption have limited NakedSword’s ability to provide for them,” Valenti said. “The launch of the PlaygirlVOD.com site allows us to better target these consumers with a brand they are comfortable with, and take our consumer base beyond rigid notions of gay and straight.”

Michael Stabile, director of marketing for NakedSword.com, added that he often hears complaints on the overall lack of adult content available for women.

“They often ask questions about whether it’s appropriate for them to be on the site at all, let alone enjoying the content,” Stabile said. “There’s not a cultural narrative for women consuming porn so they feel like they may be violating an unwritten code by enjoying the same content as men do.”
