LOS ANGELES — BOLD 2012, a conference that brings together members of the Heterosexual Male Dominant/Female submissive community has been set for Feb.17-19, 2012 in Los Angeles.
Organizers said the event will include two days of discussion and education focused on how the BDSM niche can create a healthy, empowering, and mutually gratifying dynamic for their relationships.
“The core of the Male Dominant/Female submissive dynamic is the relationships we build, with a basic recognition that BDSM as practiced by our community can be a healthy and positive expression of our sexual identity, needs, and desires.
"We further believe that leather serves as a cornerstone of community building in the BDSM lifestyle and focuses on honor, authenticity, and integrity,” BOLD said.
Three conference tracks will be featured and include The Art of Consensual Power Exchange: Defining Male Dom Het Leather (MDHL). These classes and discussions will focus on identifying and clarifying the nature of male dominance and will explore issues of ethics, transparency, honor, and integrity as well as understanding the cultural and historical basis for Male Dominant Het Leather as consensual power and authority exchange.
BOLD said, “We believe that understanding who we are and engaging in self-reflection will enhance our relationships and help foster a sense of community among dominant men."
Another track, Empowerment through Submission: Defining the Female Submissive Role in a MDHL-FS Dynamic will explore themes of empowerment and liberation through the experience of female submission. Classes will be designed, taught, and programmed by female submissives for female submissives and will cover topics ranging from identifying needs, communicating desires, personal health and understanding and embracing multiple paths to submission and service.
The third track, Defining the Dynamic: Constructing Inspired Relationships will focus on how the Male Dom/Female submissive dynamic can foster relationships that are mutually gratifying.
The organizers said the tracks are taught primarily by lifestyle couples and will focus on issues of both long-term and everyday concern to those who practice consensual power exchange in an MDHL dynamic.
Topics will include connecting through play, creating and managing protocols, polyamory and communication.
Nationally and internationally known BDSM presenters at the conference will include adult star Nina Hartley, Don Sir, Aranea, Ernest Greene, Colin Sir and Sire Kane.
