LOS ANGELES — Streamate announced today that it has added geo-restriction features for its webcam models.
The company said the new offering allows models to select up to five locations in which to block customers who reside in restricted areas.
“Geo-restriction is flexible and allows models to change restricted areas to fit their needs. The primary benefit to the models is privacy. Geo-restriction allows a model to block users from their hometown or any other region where they might be easily recognized. Models can feel safer in their neighborhoods. They can be confident that they will not be recognized at the gym, the grocery store or when out enjoying private time with friends or family," the company maintained.
Streamate model Cassidy Nicole said, "I really like the geo-restrictions. I was unaware of the feature when I signed up, but I took full advantage. I use it because it makes me feel a bit safer to know that it is less likely that a neighbor, family member or friend is watching me work."
The company said the addition is a notable feature but has more changes in store.
