SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jumping at the chance to steal away users troubled by Apple’s latest version of its Final Cut Pro X editing software, Adobe is offering a 50 percent discount on its competitive products.
The company's "Switcher Program" lets those who change from Apple’s Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer to the Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium or Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 tools to get the price cut in half.
The Adobe professional editing products were launched in April at the National Association of Broadcasters Show.
Adobe has reportedly welcomed disheartened Final Cut Pro users with open arms recently and has made its Premier Pro success stories part of its marketing campaign.
"We're hearing from video professionals that they want pro level tools that address cutting edge work but also allow them to use legacy footage and workflows," said Jim Guerard, general manager and vice president of professional video and audio.
He added, "At Adobe we've been in the trenches with video pros for years and with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS5.5 Production Premium we've delivered professional-grade tools that are already being battle-tested by some of the most innovative filmmakers, broadcasters and video pros."
For more information on eligibility requirements for the switcher program, visit the Adobe website or participating resellers.
The "Switcher Program" will end Sept. 30.
