“We’re pushing boundaries with JewelBox,” Brandt said. “Blurring the lines between mainstream and adult films. This is purely provocative storytelling.”
The first film series to be released under the JewelBox name is “Cherry.” Episode One is scheduled for an April 26 street date. For the first time, Digital Playground has a mainstream actress, Judy Thompson, crossing over into the adult industry to play the lead as a non-sex performer. She portrays Cherry, the mysterious owner of a lesbian strip club that serves as a secret destination for women who want to explore girl-girl sex.
“Working with Kay Brandt was so freeing,” Thompson said. “I trust and respect her vision completely. She’s going to blow your mind and transcend adult entertainment as we’ve known it!”
Cherry’s girlfriend is played by Digital Playground contract star Riley Steele.
“Working on ‘Cherry’ was unlike anything I’ve ever done. Kay really pulled the raw emotion out of us. The sex scenes were so erotic and moving. It was an experience I’ll never forget,” Steele said.
Digital Playground CEO Samantha Lewis said that JewelBox is exactly what DP needs.
“‘Cherry’ is fresh and new; totally different from our traditional line-up of adult movies. Kay has done an excellent job carving out a special niche for herself and for JewelBox Films. It’s not only girl-girl content or romance concepts, it’s a new market in itself.”
Digital Playground founder Joone agreed.
“Kay’s vision and commitment to this project are very admirable. She’s created a unique, sexy line that will appeal to men, women and couples. We’re really proud of the work she’s doing for Digital Playground,” Joone said.
“This is a dream come true for me,” added Brandt, formerly with Girlfriend Films. “Having my signature line of girl/girl films brought to life with the support of Samantha and Joone is incredible. They guided and believed in me. I’m very excited to have a female CEO spearheading Jewelbox and to be truly innovating alongside the visionary filmmaker Joone.”
