According to recent reports from comScore and Nielsen, the Google platform is living up to expert predictions that it will dominate the market.
Research firm comScore reported that Android’s market share among U.S. subscribers rose from 23.5 percent last October to 31.2 percent in January 2011.
The jump bumps RIM’s BlackBerry, which fell from 35.8 percent in October to 30.4 percent in January.
What’s more, Nielsen also claimed that Android is now the number one smartphone platform in the U.S., recently reporting that Android accounts for 29 percent of the U.S. market, while RIM devices stand at 27 percent.
The report also said Apple’s iOS showed slight growth in the same period from 24.6 percent to 24.7 percent.
Nielsen’s research numbers however give Apple’s iOS platform better marks coming in at 27 percent market share.
