Your Own Private Cinema With Techwood

LAS VEGAS — Welton Electronics isn’t the first company to develop virtual viewing systems with obvious applications in the adult world. As profiled in XBiz earlier this week, several companies have made marks in the “private cinema” market lately, including eMagin, which already won several awards at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week for its EyeBud 800 video viewer.

But Welton is the latest company to enter the market, debuting its Techwood TPH-03 Private Cinema system on Jan. 5 at the Adult Entertainment Expo.

“We didn’t actually develop this product specifically for the adult market,” Managing Director Pedro Woo told XBiz. “We just happened to launch at the same time as the show, so we figured this would be a good place to showcase its application in the adult world.”

The TPH-03 system comes with a portable DVD-player that runs on a rechargeable battery for about three hours of playtime, but almost any media player with a Video-Out jack can be used.

“You can use it to watch your Video iPod, plug it into your video camera, whatever you want,” Woo said.

Video is viewed through the system’s “Eye-shade,” which includes a rubber foam inlay that seals over the user’s eyes, as well as two stereo headphones to provide a totally immersive experience.

Both wired and wireless Eye-shades are available.

“You can plug this into your TV and watch football on the toilet,” Woo said.

Price-wise, the new TPH-03 runs slightly cheaper than other units, with a distributor price of $400 for bulk orders.

Woo told XBiz that Welton has just begun looking for distributors for the TPH-03.
