Performer Kianna Dior Wins Domain Name Dispute

SYDNEY, Australia — The World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center has ruled that the domain name KiannaDior.com, owned by adult performer Kianna Dior, is not confusingly similar to trademarks owned by French fashion design house Christian Dior Couture.

Christian Dior Couture had been previously successful in disputes involving the domains AnnaDior.com and ChloeDior.com.

Administrative panelist Debrett G. Lyons referred to a sworn statement from Kianna Dior in which she says that she adopted the stage name in 2001. The statement also provides evidence that she has featured in 186 adult movies under the name Kianna Dior since 2001. Her company was incorporated in Delaware in 2002 for the purpose of promotion of her films.

Although the complaint says that the KiannaDior.com domain was registered in 2006, the domain was originally set up in 2002 and registered with a new registrar in 2006. The panelist also was presented with evidence that website content was appearing in connection with Kianna Dior’s activities from as early as 2002.

The entire decision can be read here.
