SugarDVD Now Offers Online Streaming Movie Rentals

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Rental-by-mail service SugarDVD continues shadowing its mainstream counterpart, Netflix, with the addition of a new movie streaming option.

Earlier this year, Netflix gave Windows users the option to instantly watch certain movies online. SugarDVD.com and its sibling site SugarVOD.com now offer a similar service. Users can pay $4.95 for a three- or seven-day movie rental. During the rental period, they can watch the movie as much as they want.

"We wanted to offer this for customers who like to view a scene or movie more than once," SugarDVD CEO Jax said. "It allows them do so for one flat price."

In an effort to help customers make more informed choices about their rentals, a portion of the SugarDVD team has been tasked to choose 20 screenshots from each rental title. In all, representatives for SugarDVD said they have about 30,000 movies available for download or VOD.

SugarDVD continues to expand its library of title as well, with new titles from Pink Box Productions, DWS, Triangle Films, AMA Video, Chrysalis Films, Eromaxx, Ed Powers and Rocco Siffredi Productions.

In related news SugarDVD and SugarVOD have started offering cult classic mainstream titles to their library. Some of the titles include "Reefer Madness," "Night of the Living Dead," "Forbidden Zone," Sherlock Holmes titles featuring Basil Rathbone and classic footage of the Three Stooges and Abbott and Costello.
