This year's 27th annual Ball was combined with a two-day Erotic Exotic Expo, Oct 27-28 at San Francisco's Cow Palace.
Porn starlets signing at the Expo included Sunny Lane, Olivia O'Lovely, Monica Mayhem, Cytheria, Sydnee Steele, fetish diva Kayla Paige, Sinnamon Love, hot wife Christina Noir and token porn boy Kenny. Devinn Lane, Screaming O Products and Club Fast Lane offered a MILF Makeover Contest, while Bay Area sex celebrity Violet Blue hosted a booth at the Expo and co-hosted the Ball on Saturday night.
A panel discussion featuring the starlets touched on various topics including gonzo vs. plot-driven movies, obscenity issues and governmental pressures on the industry, including the stricter 2257 regulations and free speech.
Other attractions at the Expo included a Human Petting Zoo where nude models were transformed into sexy animals with elaborate body makeup, sponsored by Second Skin Images, a body painting/ photography studio. The Erotic Heritage Museum featured vintage triple-X posters and prints. Fetish photographer Ken Marcus offered a demonstration in intricate rope bondage rigging. Later in the day, Sunny Lane and Olivia O'Lovely tried out bondage restraints at the Very Intimate Pleasures booth.
The Expo remained open throughout the night, but the real action was in the main halls of the Cow Palace, which had been transformed into a giant rave-style venue with open dance areas, spinning DJs and lots of liquor vendors managed by ever-watchful security and show staff.
Elaborate costumes (or lack thereof) offered ample photo opportunities — everything from horny hell demons to alien invaders lit with blinking lights. One gentleman wore only a studded ring around his private parts.
On the main stage, Violet Blue performed a brief shaving show, allowing co-host Unkle Paul to get freaky with a disposable razor. There was also an appearance by 1980s electronic rocker Thomas Dolby, as well as several local Bay Area bands and performance artists.
Several other acts including Flava Flav, Naughty by Nature and adult star Tera Patrick canceled their appearances without explanation.
