It's Not All Fun and Games

It seems as though every day someone comes into this wonderful world of online pornography with the idea that it's incredibly easy to make fabulous money with very little effort.

I'm sorry to say that it isn't as easy as you might think. Making money in any business, including the adult industry, takes much more work and dedication than many might originally realize.

Very few new webmasters have a business plan, which is one of the first things that need to be done. Remember, you can't build a mansion on a shit foundation, and without the business plan as your foundation, you're going to have a shaky venture at best.

Another thing to remember is that you can never learn enough. This goes for not only the adult industry as a whole, but also for your chosen niche.

Speaking of a chosen niche, have you thought about choosing one? Don't make the mistake of thinking that you don't have to choose one, but don't limit yourself to only one if you are interested in several. You have to know your niche to market it, and if you don't have a specific idea in mind, you might consider looking at several until you get the idea.

Not good at marketing? Don't despair; there are literally hundreds of articles, people, and resources that can help you learn the ins and outs of getting your site out there and known to people who will be interested in what you have to offer.

If you aren't good at site design, there are again literally hundreds of places you can learn about design and technique. I would suggest that you also get your hands on a copy of Photoshop and spend some time getting to know the program. Make sure you purchase a legal copy though, kids.

Not sure if sites are your cup of tea? Consider this: there are many other things you can do in the adult industry that have little to do with site building and submitting. You might take a few moments, or even a few days, and make a list of what your strengths and weaknesses are, and consider them carefully. Go with what you know.

Never be afraid to ask questions. Many of the people out there who have the money and the know-how are more than willing to talk to the newbies and assist them in the learning process. Ask those who know and put the answers you receive to good use.

Be ready for anything, folks, because anything can and will happen. If something changes the course of your business, don't let your business fold because it wasn't ready for the change. Adapt and move on.

Finally, set realistic goals. Making a million in your first year could happen, but really, it's very rare these days. Instead, focus on getting signups and improving yourself and your business. You'll find that the more you improve, the more money you'll make later on down the road.

Don't panic, don't over stress, and be ready to learn more on a daily basis. Keep in mind that nothing worth having is easily gotten. Work, learn, and succeed.
