Bea York first dabbled in adult after coming across a pile of panties when she was cleaning out her closet to sell old clothes.
As an avid Redditor, she decided to sell those undergarments to make some money on the side, and to also experience a bit of a thrill from doing so.
It’s OK [for people] to want a little escape from everything that’s going on and enjoy some porn.
It turned out that little venture would send her well on her merry way to a full-blown adult career that has attracted quite a formidable following.
“Reddit ended up offering me a way to create an awesome fan base and branch out to other areas of the biz, and here I am,” she mused.
Over time, she blended that friendly “thick girl next door” (as she describes herself on OnlyFans) aesthetic, personality and artistry into a brand that has truly become uniquely her own.
“It really comes from years of figuring out what works and what doesn’t and giving myself space to evolve and redefine who and what my brand is,” York related.
With over 200K fans across social media, not to mention a very successful OnlyFans presence with more than 100K Likes, 11K photos and 500+ videos, along with ManyVids, Clips4Sale and more, York is showing no signs of slowing down.
To chronicle her uplifting career and starlit ascent, XBIZ shines a spotlight on York as Clip Star of the Month for June, in this exclusive interview.
XBIZ: What are a few of the most enduring ways you’ve grown since entering the adult entertainment industry?
YORK: I’ve grown so much as an individual and as a content creator. In this particular phase of my life and career, I have mostly come to terms with accepting that I’ll never be perfect. It sounds a little defeatist, but this kind of relatability has been really kindly received over the past year.
It has been about trying new things with my content, diving into learning new skills and trying to put together all these wild ideas into something that people actually want to see and enjoy and jerk off to. But also, not being so hung up on whatever-it-is coming out a certain way and not being afraid to admit when my idea has turned into a flop. Lots of fans can relate to something like that. Not everyone’s ideas are gold, but we sulk for a bit, learn and try a different approach.
When it comes to my brand, myself and my fans, it’s important to feel OK with who we are. I think that has become so important since last year. It is OK to have unique kinks; I’m here for that. It’s OK to feel down about everything that’s going on. I’m here to remind everyone that they’re still incredible human beings. It’s OK [for people] to want a little escape from everything that’s going on and enjoy some porn. Yes, I am definitely here for that. That’s literally what I’m here for.
That’s a very lengthy answer for something as simple and as cheesy as some inspirational wall art.
XBIZ: Discuss your preferred platform(s) and the various types of content you produce.
YORK: Things have changed so much just in the past year, but right now, my preferred platforms are OnlyFans, ManyVids and Clips4Sale. I hope that everything gets sorted out with Modelhub, because they were also a great site for clips.
OnlyFans allows me to really connect with fans, and I really appreciate that. I love creating photosets and short clips and the flexibility of making a mix of selfies taken on my phone, edited studio-style photos, silly posts or even elaborate roleplay videos. Everyone’s been super supportive of me learning more about photography and flexing my creativity, as well as my lingerie addiction.
Clip sites like ManyVids and Clips4Sale allow me to keep all of my videos in an accessible spot. I’m a little particular about what I post where, but if a video has made its way to any of these clip sites, it’s received the most attention. However, I cringe a bit at the video quality in some of my older clips. I really love filming and making videos. I also enjoy the customs that fans order. Getting into a roleplay and acting out various fantasies really is my fantasy.
XBIZ: What do your fans most often request or purchase from you as far as specific acts or scenarios?
YORK: It truly is a mixed bag because I’ve dabbled in so many things. Taboo roleplay is always popular and probably always will be, no matter how hard sites are forced to exclude certain verbiage. Anal, JOI and Girl/Girl are also pretty high up on the list too.
XBIZ: Describe your aesthetic style when it comes to fashion, lighting and camera angles.
YORK: That one is tough because I feel like with everything I do, I’m always trying to change it all up and make it better.
I love small luxury lingerie brands that really show off curves and have some high-fashion flair. I love being fancy but understated. My favorite lingerie brand is Studio Pia, because almost every collection fits my style perfectly.
With lighting, I usually opt for high-key to set an upbeat, fun feel. I have three books on angles and posing, but I always fall back on the ones that showcase my booty, boobs or face best. I’m still trying to figure out the perfect way to showcase them all in one shot.
XBIZ: Any other creators in the adult industry or beyond that you vibe with and look up to?
YORK: Everyone that I’ve worked with and have created content with has been absolutely amazing. I really look up to Mia Malkova and love her style, aesthetic and work.
XBIZ: Personally and creatively, reflect on how you have changed (or remained consistent) in your overall approach.
YORK: As a person, I think I’ve changed a lot. I have a much better understanding of my sexuality and desires. It’s had a domino effect, because most of the time, I’m more comfortable communicating that to partners and more confident as a whole.
As a creative, I had no idea how much technical know-how I’d need, and I still have a million more things to learn. Someone can make great stuff with an iPhone and a tripod. I did for years. Once I decided to move beyond that, it was tutorials on cameras, lighting, Final Cut Pro, mic settings and so much more. There may have been a meltdown or two trying to figure it all out.
XBIZ: How do you handle marketing, not only with general brand awareness, but also with selling specific content?
YORK: I’m not as organized as I should be. Sometimes, I wing it. Other times, I have enough foresight to schedule social media posts in advance. I use Reddit, Instagram and Twitter and promote some of my best work. I try not to be too hard on myself if I miss something. I’m just one person juggling it all and constantly releasing something new and exciting.
XBIZ: Tell us your method for balancing work, life, health and wellness.
YORK: 2020 was a tough realization that I need a work/life balance. With nowhere to go, I buried myself in work until I was burnt out. Now, I’m so much better at listening to my body and what it needs. I create a schedule for each week that includes days off. I’m also so grateful that restrictions have eased up here, and I can regularly go back to Orangetheory Fitness classes. I love Orangetheory and pushing myself to lift heavier weights.
XBIZ: What are a few of your career dreams for 2021 and the coming years?
YORK: This year, I want to focus on honing my skills and working on expanding my creativity. My goal is to save up and invest in a larger workspace. If not this year, then hopefully not too far down the road. I really need more space. After that, I’m not so sure. I’m not too picky.
