Your Room, Your Rules: Setting Boundaries for Cam Fans

Your Room, Your Rules: Setting Boundaries for Cam Fans

Fans visit cam sites because they know it's a surefire way to make their hottest fantasies come true, any time the mood for pleasure strikes. After all, where else on the planet can they enter a room, pick out the model of their dreams and ask for whatever they want? Many models embrace this fact and go the extra mile to put on a great show, especially when the customer is well-known to them or has a full wallet on deck.

But what happens when the customer asks for something you either can't or don't want to do? It's inevitable that at one point or another, someone will ask you to do something on cam that is either out of your comfort zone or against your platform's Terms of Service. And when that time comes, it's important that you feel empowered enough to say, “No,” even if you think the customer will get upset.

Models are there to provide pleasure, yes, but it’s a pleasurable experience for all parties when there is mutual respect.

SET BOUNDARIES IN YOUR BIO

Many of the world's most successful cam models make their boundaries known upfront on their bio page. They outline their specialties, what they aren't willing to do and remind visitors that activities that violate the site's TOS are off-limits. Laying out the rules in your bio is an essential first step because it lets fans know if you’re the right model for them. It also saves you from missing out on tips in free chat because someone took you private, only to get upset and leave (or worse yet, ask for a refund) when you wouldn’t do something they requested.

ENSURE VISITORS UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF SERVICE

Cam sites have Terms of Service set in place for a reason, and models and viewers alike must abide by them. It helps platforms ensure that no illegal activity occurs, and the site remains a safe space for everyone to enjoy. If a viewer asks you to perform in a way that breaks the rules, direct them to the site's Terms of Service section so they understand these policies are beyond your control, and you can't indulge their requests even if you want to. Over the years, I've seen far too many models get reprimanded because fans asked them to do things that were against TOS, and they reluctantly obliged. Let fans know that you're not willing to do anything that jeopardizes your standing on the site you work for, no matter how hard they push. Anyone who can't understand that is simply not worthy of your time and energy.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO REPORT

If a member tries to push you out of your comfort zone and you've already asked them to stop, don't be afraid to report them to your site and ban them from your room. In many cases, the member may have a track record of engaging in the same behavior with other models, which helps the abuse team flag habitual offenders and remove them from the site. It also shows your platform that you’re doing your best to play by the rules should someone report you for something the fan was pushing you to do.

IF IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, DON’T DO IT

Even if your platform hasn't mentioned a specific action in the Terms of Service, you should still say no to anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Remember, your body, your rules! Any platform worth working for will support your right to set boundaries and feel safe in your room.

MUTUAL RESPECT, MUTUAL PLEASURE

Working as a cam model can be very lucrative, but it should also be fun, so keep that in mind when dealing with clients who get unruly and demanding. Models are there to provide pleasure, yes, but it's a pleasurable experience for all parties when there is mutual respect.
