Q&A: AKGingerSnaps Cam Duo Streams Their Polyamorous Lifestyle for Adoring Fans

Q&A: AKGingerSnaps Cam Duo Streams Their Polyamorous Lifestyle for Adoring Fans

Alaskan camming couple Ginger and Smassh first fell in love after he jumped naked from two stories up into a pool, swam over to her, told her she was hot, and asked her to get naked with him right then and there.

Within four months, they were married, and are still together 13 years later, sharing their kinky passions as full-time cam model duo “AKGingerSnaps.”

Honestly, I’m a total voyeur, so my favorite group situation, of course, is what we are most known for: the reverse gangbang.

Since they also happen to very much be into the polyamory lifestyle, many of their shows and content feature other stars, several of whom were first introduced to adult entertainment work by the loving duo.

Now, from navigating consent, to taking their show on the road into the Alaskan wilderness during the pandemic, AKGingerSnaps are total pros at balancing work and their personal life. Not to mention, they’ve raised three kids together, and have a beautiful girlfriend in the form of Lana Mars, who lives with them.

To spotlight such a sexy pair of entrepreneurs, XBIZ hopped into the traveling lovers’ motorhome, for this exclusive Cam Star of the Month interview.

XBIZ: Tell us what led you to get into camming?

AKGingerSnaps: Well, for a long time Smassh and I were avid viewers on Chaturbate, watching our favorite cam girls together. We were bored and already horny one night and decided to set up the webcam to stream ourselves. I was super nervous, because I’d just had a baby four months before and had insecurities about my body, but my tits were huge and full of milk which was hot! So we got on cam and ended up having tons of viewers that first night, as well made a few hundred dollars.

After the broadcast, we both looked at each other like wow, that went way better than we could have hoped for. So, we decided to ride out the new tag for the week and keep getting back on cam to see how it went. Well, things went great! We kept making money, having a ton of fun and a ton of awesome sex. After we spent a couple weeks camming and doing research about the adult industry, we started focusing on making it a primary income source for ourselves.

At this time, we were in a transition period between jobs for Smassh, who was waiting for government hiring freezes to lift so that he could be hired for a position that we had been waiting for. That's part of the reason we were so bored at the time, haha. So, I asked Smassh to permanently stay home from work so that he could help me with the kids (we have three together) and focus on making camming our primary source of income instead.

XBIZ: What have been the biggest milestone accomplishments on your path to become the "Porn King and Queen of Alaska"?

AKGingerSnaps: To be honest, we are so proud of ourselves and what we accomplished in a short time in this industry. In 2018, we won the ManyVids Producer of the Year award. This was a huge thing for us and I couldn't believe that in just a year and a half into the industry, that we could achieve award status. We worked our butts off that first year camming and making content and trying to get as many fans to love us as we could. It felt so good to have our hard work be recognized and really pushed us to keep expanding our brand and business. We started a camming studio and signed up Alaskans who wanted to get a start in camming.

Then, in 2019 we won YNOT's Best Cam Couple! This award felt so amazing to win. We were really feeling good in the direction we were headed with camming and our business. This award just nailed it for us and how much we had been working to get it. After collaborating with Mary Moody, we had spent all of 2018 and 2019 bringing mainstream porn stars to Alaska to cam with us. This was a niche that no one else was doing anywhere so it really set us up to be deemed the "Porn King and Queen of Alaska"

XBIZ: Discuss a few of your other business ventures, signing performers under your studio and offering guidance to the industry.

AKGingerSnaps: Okay, once we began camming and things were going so well we wanted to bring other performers on to cam with us and do threesome shows. We saw the opportunity for it to launch us forward, so we started a camming studio, signing up folks in Alaska who were interested in camming. Some folks we would invite onto cam with us would get a ton of followers and also see how we interacted with viewers and ran our room. We gave them advice and all the info you would need to really get started in camming.

We do still sign Alaskans up for camming, but most of our guest shows now are with established porn performers. As part of being in the studio, we also process earnings and pay models out through our business. This allows the models to have proof of income in a way that’s discreet should they need to show it in order to get an apartment or something like that. They do not have to take taxes or 1099s from adult websites to housing agents or bankers, etc. where they could be judged negatively or it could be unsafe for them to reveal.

Everyone who signs up in our studio also gets all our vast knowledge of the industry, with how to get started and how to succeed. They just have to take the information we give them and make something of it.

XBIZ: What is your preferred platform to cam on and why?

AKGingerSnaps: We started our adventure into camming with Chaturbate and it has consistently been our highest performing site. Over the last 3 years we can count on our amazing fans joining us online any time that we start streaming. We just hit 400K followers and we are pretty proud of that count.

XBIZ: How did you two meet and become a dynamic duo professionally?

AKGingerSnaps: Ginger and I met in Key West, Florida through friends. Basically, we had mutual friends and had all rented a house in the keys for Memorial Day weekend. The entire drive down with my friends, a couple of the guys who were already there were talking about jumping from the second story of the house into the pool. When I got to the house and asked who had tried it, they both said that they were waiting for me.

I went upstairs to see if it was even possible and as I looked over the balcony I could tell it was close enough to make the jump. But it was a very small pool so I wasn't sure it was deep enough. I walked down again and jumped into the pool to see how deep it was. After checking the depth, I said OK I'll try it.

My friend stopped me just before the door because I was wet and it was a vacation rental, so I said you're right, you have a point and I got totally naked and ran upstairs. By this time, everyone in the house was waiting for me to jump and I was naked hanging over the balcony.

When I looked at the pool I saw Ginger and something just said “her” in my head! I jumped from the balcony and stayed under the water as I swam up to her. I popped out just in front of her and said you're hot, wanna get naked? She, of course, smiled, said, “Yes,” and I literally picked her up and carried her upstairs. When we came back down we were together and within four months we were married. That was 13-plus years ago and we have spent every day together since.

How we became the duo we are is a hard question because all we ever did was just be ourselves. When we first started that was our main focus of, well, everything, to just be ourselves.

XBIZ: What is it like balancing real-life with camming?

AKGingerSnaps: Honestly, this is the easiest question to answer. As a mom of three, balancing any job with home life can be difficult, but camming has honestly been the best job as far as that goes. I am able to be much more present with my kids because I work/cam when they sleep or are at school.

The same goes for Smassh; before we started camming, he always worked long-hour jobs, first in the Army and then as an IT manager. Now, he is present with our kids as well. We can share parenting duties equally and with Lana (Mars) as an adult woman in our home, she is able to be a huge part of the tribe that it takes to raise kids.

We don't have to go to an 8 to 12-hour job somewhere, every day outside our home, while they go to childcare and all that comes with having working parents. Instead, we can be there every step of the way.

As far as managing time with each other, that's easy; we are literally always with each other because we work and live together. The best part of having "work" that is basically an adult social activity, is we have plenty of "adult" time together as well.

XBIZ: Discuss your polyamorous lifestyle, on and off cam. How has that shaped your approach to adult, and what are a few of your favorite group situations or acts to explore?

AKGingerSnaps: We have always been poly and after we started camming, we discovered that there were a lot of people within the adult industry that have similar views as we do. We've honestly felt a better sense of community within the industry because of being poly than we did before starting camming. We've met a lot more people like us!

Porn star Lana Mars is our girlfriend and we've all been together for three years now. Lana joined our camming studio and was looking to get a start in the industry, so she had cammed with us a few times and we all just meshed really well together and began a relationship. She moved in with us shortly after starting, which was three years ago. Now, outside of camming and porn, the three of us are a poly unit.

Honestly, I'm a total voyeur, so my favorite group situation, of course, is what we are most known for: the reverse gangbang. I love watching Smassh stretch out three to five gorgeous women before I cum on his lap. It's just a lot of fun and pure sexual energy, playing and supporting each other.

XBIZ: How do you navigate consent during a live show when bringing in other talent?

AKGingerSnaps: Communication! We talk to them and each other. Literally, we just talk to the talent before the live shows start. As far as consent between Smassh and I, that has been discussed thoroughly over 13-plus years of marriage and learning how our poly dynamic works for us and what we are comfortable with, so we know before any show what our “yes” and “no” boundaries are.

As far as consent for the talent we bring, we communicate with them as thoroughly as possible before shows start. Typically, when we have guest performers come to Alaska, we have time to hang out and talk about the shows. We discuss the ins and outs of how the shows will go and what is expected of them as performers. We ask them what they are and aren't comfortable with as far as things we know will be potential requests from viewers (i.e. spanks and rougher play). If something comes up while we are live, we just continue to communicate with the performer.

Smassh also does a lot of check-ins while the show is going and when things are happening. Being a sexual abuse survivor himself he is constantly making eye contact and asking everyone if they are good.

XBIZ: What is the AKGingerSnaps brand in a nutshell, as far as how your fans might describe you? How do you spotlight your individual personalities as Ginger and Smassh, while also being known as a pair?

AKGingerSnaps: Gosh, I think my fans might describe AKGingerSnaps brand as that Alaskan couple featuring a busty redheaded MILF and her husband making live porn with hot women. I think individually we are able to spotlight our personalities because we both have big voices, we are both just the type of people who make our presence known. We both have been able to cam together and separately, so fans have had the opportunity to see our individual personalities over the years.

XBIZ: Describe your varied marketing strategies for your shows, content and other business ventures.

AKGingerSnaps: Post, post, post! Put yourself out there, make your presence known, find a niche and use it to your advantage. Advertise yourself as much as possible, we are selling the fantasy idea of something/one, so make it a good fantasy that people want to watch/experience.

Quality content is important. I admittedly am much more conservative when it comes to new ventures than Smassh, but that is what makes us a great team. He brings the wild ideas and I "what if" them to death until we come up with an idea that we believe we can accomplish together.

XBIZ: How has the pandemic challenged or created new opportunities for you? What's next in 2020 and beyond?

AKGingerSnaps: The pandemic! Well, this pandemic has honestly not been horrible for us. Firstly, we live in Alaska, where we are at the bottom of the list for COVID-19 cases. When things first started, it was a bit scary, but we quickly adapted and adjusted to meet our needs. Changing schedules to meet the needs of the family and all that, with school being closed, was easy, since being a sex worker allows me to already work from home.

Then, we started getting those wild ideas about what to do next. We weren't going to be bringing talent up to cam with us for the obvious pandemic reasons, so we decided to hit the road! We bought a 36' motorhome and set out on the open Alaskan road to make content all over the great state, showcasing small businesses on our social media and displaying all the beautiful scenery we come across.

So far, our fans are loving it; we are camming from remote places and cabins in the woods, which is a lot of fun, and we are making amazing content. Outdoor videos are my passion. I love making content with beautiful scenery, plus fucking on a mountainside next to a glacier is pretty amazing! Stay tuned to our adventures, because we have big plans and possible guests that may make appearances.
