Marketing Yourself in the Cam World

Marketing Yourself in the Cam World

The camming industry is growing at a rapid pace and becoming more and more competitive, especially over the last few years. In order to become a top earner in the industry, you need to be focused and treat camming like you would any other career choice.

You’ve got to take it seriously and put in the effort in order to see results, because it’s a fast-moving business where you need to work smart to succeed. But, with that said, camming can be a lot of fun and there is a lot of freedom that comes with this entrepreneurial line of work.

To build a huge audience you have to explore, be inventive and see yourself as more than just a performer, because you are now your own brand.

To build a huge audience you have to explore, be inventive and see yourself as more than just a performer, because you are now your own brand. Be creative to make yourself stand out and be memorable!

Getting Yourself Set Up:

First off, once you have picked your desired camming platform, now you need to create and design your profile. When it comes to your profile photo, since it could be one of the first things a viewer comes across, it presents your first opportunity as a model to leave a memorable first impression and turn that viewer into a fan. Use high-quality photos that aren’t necessarily full nude that showcase your best features and can act as a teaser to keep viewers thirsty for more.

It’s also important to use your bio to show off your personality — the more genuine, the higher the chances of gaining more followers, but remember to keep it flirty, fun and invite your viewers to get live on cam and chat with you! Classifying yourself and what type of performer you are in your profile is key to attracting the right type of viewers. It will also make it easier for people to find you, in turn growing your fan base.

Building Your Personal Brand:

Now that your profile is complete, and you have classified yourself as a performer and created your brand — it’s time to bring that to social media outlets and further grow your audience!

Social media is one of the best ways to build an audience! Stay active and up to date on Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram (though be warned that when it comes to Instagram, they are a little bit trickier for sex workers, so it’s best to err on the side of being super SFW). These platforms let you tease and flirt with your followers and provide a way to communicate when you are going online.

The reach you have on social media can become massive and doesn’t cost anything other than your time. You can entice your fans with sexy and fun posts, while making it clear where they can find your broadcast link. Models that have a huge fan base on social media and are able to capitalize on that, are no longer limited to just the viewers of their chosen platform.

It should be noted that Twitter is the only social media platform from the big three mainstream options that is adult-friendly — but you must flag your account as “sensitive” in order to avoid getting banned. Although you may still get banned, it’s always good to have a backup account (that is kept completely private from everyone), where you duplicate your posts to in case your main account gets deleted. Then, if your main account vanishes, you can turn that backup account into a public one via the privacy settings and hit up a few of your trusted fans or colleagues to help get the word out about your backup being the new main one. Oh, and using proper hashtags and sending out consistent tweets will bring the best results!

The word “shadowban” is familiar if you are savvy with Twitter and Instagram. It’s a bit of a tricky phenomenon, because you can’t really tell whether you have been shadowbanned or not. Basically, it hides your profile from search results or suggestions, making it harder for users to discover you.

It’s also tough to know why you have been shadowbanned — sometimes using too many hashtags, posting the same thing repeatedly or using tools that spam your audience, can all be reasons why you are shadowbanned. There’s no surefire way to get your shadowban removed but starting to like, retweet and reply to other tweets sometimes helps “prove” you are just a regular user — don’t do it too much though, because that can also trigger shadowbanning. Phew!

Tips For Social Media:

  • Watermark images you upload: You should put your name or logo onto any photos uploaded to your social networks — it helps defend against people stealing your images, it will gain you exposure and anyone that stumbles onto the photo will be able to search you up.
  • Post regularly and be interactive: Social media is constantly being updated and it’s important to keep active and interact with followers, because it’s all about building relationships that will pay off!
  • Using the right tags and hashtags: You want to make sure that your posts are being seen by the right eyes and you can make this happen by using proper hashtags.

Twitter can also be an additional source of revenue. Once you have grown enough of a following, you can make your account protected and share your private images only with members that pay a subscription fee. Of course, this should only be considered once you have a substantial following.

The camming community is constantly growing, and many professional cam models spend their days broadcasting on their own and it can get lonely at times. Using social media, you can connect with other models and do group or duo shows, which can be a great way to boost your earnings and visibility, not to mention have a great time camming with a friend! Ensure your partner is trustworthy and split the revenue tactically.

Make Sure to Always Have Fun:

Camming can be very stressful and you need to go into it prepared for that, keeping in mind that the results are rewarding! It is important not to give up immediately. It’ll take some work and time, but as long as you stay self-motivated — you will see your loyal fan base and income growing. Once that happens, the rest will take on a domino effect.

Account-to-Account Payments: The New Banking Disruptor?

So much of our industry relies upon Visa and Mastercard to support consumer payments — and with that reliance comes increased scrutiny by both brands.
