A Guide for Beginner Cam Models

A Guide for Beginner Cam Models

Becoming successful as a cam model depends a lot on the personality of each performer and how well one can connect with viewers and fans alike.

Online, millions of people converse daily, but how does one go about making a truly intimate connection? Is online success based just on nudity or does connectedness play a huge role?

Success is built on developing connections and really showing people what you like and what feels good.

For those looking to become a profitable cam performer, we outline a “How To Guide” on tips and tricks for gaining success and cultivating true connections with your viewers.

Camming Necessities

You are now your own entrepreneurial business, so it’s important to ensure you have the necessities that every performer needs.

  • PC/Laptop
  • Webcam
  • Microphone

Once the basics have been covered, start thinking about additional features that can help make your show even better and have a greater impact. Lighting, sound in which your viewers can hear you and what you wear all play a major role when you press the “Go Live” button. Some additional suggestions include:

  • Lighting
  • External Speakers
  • Cam Splitter
  • Panties
  • Lingerie/Outfits
  • Props for Shows
  • Sex Toys

Determining a Schedule

As each day goes by, viewers (like the rest of us) get caught up in our busy schedules. Many in the industry have found that setting pre-determined schedules allow fans to know exactly the days and times you will be going live. This has proven to be very successful, because they can carve out time in their own schedules to match up with yours. Many performers have found that three to five scheduled shows per week increase their following and attendance rapidly, especially when they communicate this schedule through their cam profile accounts and social media channels.

Setting Boundaries

When starting to cam for the very first time, there are some misconceptions on how a performer gets discovered or well-known. They ask themselves, “Do I have to do obscure things to get noticed online? Will people only follow me if I am extremely kinky? Should I do things that I have never done before? The answer is no! As a performer, you have full control over what you are comfortable with. Only you can decide what to do with your body, and it is only you that can set whatever boundaries you are comfortable with.

Success doesn’t depend on stepping out of your comfort zone. Success is built on developing connections and really showing people what you like and what feels good. Before starting to cam, determine what your boundaries are and use those boundaries as the foundation to really enjoy the things you feel comfortable with.

Developing a Connection

On most cam sites, the viewers and fans who come to this community are predominantly amateur individuals who one way or another really want a connection. Connections come in many forms, either through viewers who want to find local performers within the areas in which they live, specific demographics they prefer or countries they have never visited before. There are many ways a viewer will search out a type of performer they wish to connect with. >p>With so many features out there, viewers have the ability to use text-based live chat, live sound feed communicating through a speaker or allowing one-on-one private shows to communicate directly with a viewer/fan. Open discussion and communication are very important. Make sure to read what viewers are asking and interact with them so they know that you are listening.

Ask your viewers how they are, what is happening in their lives, what requests they have and what will interest throughout your show. All of this dialogue creates starting points for any viewer to connect with a specific performer.

Building Up the Ultimate Tool: Your Social Media Presence

There are numerous competitive cam sites out there. However, I highly recommend using the sites that are diversified and allow for all types to be considered by viewers. Picking a diversified site generates dynamic crowds and a higher chance to gain success for those who may not fit a specific “look” or “niche.” And while innovative site features are available to help performers earn more tokens from viewers as well as multiple communication tools to build that connection, there is one very important tool that many overlook: the power of social media!

Social media has been proven to garner outside attention to your shows, allow another traffic source to your cam profile account and enable fans to communicate directly with you when you are not online. Basically, social media is your best friend for gaining new viewers to your shows.

Building up your social media presence can be daunting at first, but believe me — it works! Start by creating a profile, following others in the industry and finding those fans who love the industry. From here, you can develop one-on-one communication, get those interested ready for your show and start building connections.

Taking Those First Steps

As you contemplate whether to start camming or not, always remember: the first step is the hardest and may seem like a lot of work. But, don’t be afraid. Take it slow, do it at your own pace and learn the best ways of the industry by asking questions.

People have always been a great resource, so ask those who are seasoned in the industry. If not, how about jumping online and asking viewers the things you need help with. The cam community is a special place and you will be surprised how many wonderful and amazing people are out there, all looking for a connection, looking for excitement and looking to get off.
