Understanding the Ins and Outs of the ‘Male G-Spot’

Understanding the Ins and Outs of the ‘Male G-Spot’

In the world of adult retail, products often focus on the clitoris, the G-spot, and the penis and tend to leave out a very important pleasure hot-spot: the prostate! We hear a lot about prostates and P-spots in the adult industry, but not everyone is clear about how to use the products we make and sell to massage this magical pleasure zone — and how do we help shoppers find the right prostate products for them?

What is the prostate?

The prostate-focused toy market has exploded in the last decade and interest in these stimulators continues to grow.

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located inside the body between the urethra and the penis, just in front of the rectum. Prostates are often referred to as the “male G-spot” because, when stimulated, it often results in a powerful pleasure response similar to how G-spot massage is described. People with vulvas have a G-spot and people with penises have prostates, aka P-spots.

To locate the prostate, insert a finger into the anus and curve the finger upward in a “come hither” motion until you feel something firm and ridged, like the shell of a walnut. Adding firm pressure can feel incredibly pleasurable to some, and the only way to know if someone enjoys prostate massage is to start slow and gentle and see how it feels. Keep in mind that not everyone finds P-spot stimulation enjoyable!

How to get in touch with the prostate’s orgasmic potential:

Massaging the prostate to orgasm is sometimes called “prostate milking,” and while it can be done manually, sex toys can be incredibly effective for successful P-spot stimulation. Some prostate stimulators feature curvatures and a variety of different movements, including stroking and gyrating, which almost effortlessly target the prostate.

Because the prostate is best accessed through anal penetration, those interested in exploring while solo may appreciate something with a remote control. Remote-operated prostate thrusters are especially useful because they can be considered hands-free in the sense that they move on their own, and any adjustments to speed or intensity can be made easily without having to remove the plug.

But prostate products don’t stop there! There are other fun prostate play options like wand-style massagers, and toys that incorporate electrostimulation.

How will your shop benefit from understanding prostate massage?

Since 2012, the male sex toy market has been one of the fastest-growing markets for adult retailers with experts predicting that it could grow to a $15 billion market by 2020. As offerings for men become more plentiful and more sophisticated, understanding the benefits of prostate massage and the products that help can lead to an appreciable increase in sales. This knowledge also can attract a whole new consumer base; the more you and your staff can serve customers looking to explore prostate play, the more customers you can serve effectively while building trust.

Working with customers who are interested in prostate play:

An important step toward best serving your prostate-curious customers is stocking a variety of products that stimulate in more ways than one and providing options for various experience levels. You may find that, due to lingering stigma surrounding anal penetration for men, some customers may be hesitant to broach the topic or even browse the products. Clear, non-judgmental communication can help you zero in on what customers are looking for and offer suggestions that they might enjoy, and understanding the array of products available and how they function will make it easier to suggest add-ons and upsells like lubricant, lube shooters, nitrile gloves and more.

The prostate-focused toy market has exploded in the last decade and interest in these stimulators continues to grow. Whether your shoppers are well-versed about prostate play or simply curious, assuring that your staff understand the ins and outs of prostate stimulation will make your store a go-to source and shopping destination.
