Becoming a trans porn star and cam model wasn’t something I planned on — it just kind of happened. I also began my career as a cam model by accident. Quite literally, actually!
You see, in December 2014, I was involved in a serious car accident. It left me to spend six months recovering in a wheelchair. I don’t remember exactly what happened. All I was told when I woke up was that I wrapped my car around a pole and they had to cut me out of the car to rescue me. I was badly injured.
Before I started camming, I worked in sales, where you are not selling a product, you are selling your personality.
To be honest, I saw it as a blessing. At the time, I was just starting my transition and I didn’t know how my boss would react when I finally came out. Plus, it was a dead-end job; I could barely afford my apartment. Since my job required me to stand all day, I had to quit, and it came with a sense of relief. I knew I was ultimately going to be all right. I was released on Christmas Eve and I spent Christmas with both parents, my grandmother and both of my siblings — which was a first for me, at least that I could remember. I tried to seek the silver lining.
Back then, I used to work multiple jobs to make ends meet, and in my free time I would cam for extra cash — and because I really liked doing it. I’ve always been an exhibitionist and from that point I was curious to see if I could do it full-time. As soon as I was able to, I started rolling my chair to my bed and doing my cam show. At first, I would charge $30 a show and it would take two hours. To me, this was awesome. I was making $15 dollars an hour doing something I loved. Sure, I was discouraged, watching the other models make so much more in less time, but I thought it was something I could work on and that it would get better with time.
Sure enough, it did. My $30 shows became $60 shows, and sooner than later, I was clearing $100 easy. I remember the first time I pulled out $300 — I’m tearing up writing this — and I felt so good, like I had found my place in life. I felt like I fit in. I was so excited that I was on the first page and was doing so well. I could never have foreseen that I would be able to clear $10 thousand in a week; if I had known that, I would have started a lot sooner! It was such a blessing. It was life-changing. I now have over 200 thousand followers on one platform alone. Yes, it takes a lot of hard work but it is attainable for anyone with enough determination. It took me over three years to build my following.
To be able to clear that amount, I had to put in three hours of prepping daily: make-up, hair and bodily training. It takes a strong mind and blinders not to get discouraged. I put in close to eight hours a day in front of the camera. I worked multiple platforms every day and tweaked my shows to make it work. That is the best part about camming: you have the freedom to be able to do what works for you.
A huge part of being able to make that kind of money in a week is knowing your tools. Knowing the apps and bots that you have at your disposal, the hardware and software that is available, and the people you are marketing yourself to. Before I started camming, I worked in sales, where you are not selling a product, you are selling your personality. Sex sells itself on top of that and so I think that there will always be a market for sex work. It is so important — I can’t stress it enough — to maintain a great attitude and above all not get discouraged, even if that means bookmarking a link that brings you directly to the broadcast page so you don’t see the other models.
Determination and consistency are equally as valuable. You have to keep going! There have been so many times I’ve wanted to log off and say “I quit” because it wasn’t happening the way I wanted it to, but that should be expected. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, for me at least. Push past it.
I sincerely believe in the law of averages and I know that each “no” brings you closer to a “yes.” For me, the more times I got “no,” the more excited I became. I knew a huge “yes!” was coming my way. This goes for anything in life. If you don’t ask the question, you won’t get answers. Don’t let those “no” situations get you down. Ask for five stars, ask them to rate your show and if you feel like there aren’t enough people watching your cam, bring them to it.
I made a Twitter account because of cam (@caseykissesxoxo) and I started advertising my shows. I gained followers from posting on there as well and I brought them to the site. Affiliate links are big bucks! They don’t sell well by themselves, but if added to a picture, you can get a lot of traffic and make money while you sleep. It’s a big example of knowing your tools.
I also developed a system to help when I felt I was stumbling on my words. I made flashcards and ad-libbed, substituting different sexual words. I had a card for verbs, a card for nouns, for adjectives, and it worked. I improved so much with practice, and I knew I wanted to keep getting better. Determination is the key to success.
I hope to motivate anyone who reads this article. Go get on cam, or if you don’t cam, apply what I’ve said to whatever it is your heart desires. Visualizing is materializing and, trust me, it works. Thanks so much for your time. I know how valuable it can be! Time is money. It definitely is to me.
